  • Pretty good tires
Size: 29x2.30inch
I kinda like these tires. They're a little heavy but hold up well. These might be my go-to tires from now on. Time will tell.

  • Maxxis knows tires
Size: 29x2.30inch
Took some hunting to make sure it was the correct tire. I recommend going to the maxxis website and getting the product number and comparing it to the Amazon number in the product description. There are a few different levels of tire composition.

  • Wrong width listing for an otherwise incredible tire.
Size: 27.5x2.40WTinch
Why is a 2.3 listed as a 2.4? This is supposed to be a direct replacement to the OEM tires that Maxis provides, yet are thinner. I won't return them since they will do me fine this season, but you should really correct this. Other than that, this tire has incredible grip and lasted me about a season and a half of rough abusive riding carrying my fat ass around the trails. ... show more

  • Incredible traction, heavy duty construction!
Size: 29x2.30inch
I run all mountain trails in PA, with lots of roots, loose rocks, larger rocks, and wet soil. The Continental X-Kings that my bike came with had constant issues with breaking traction, causing wrecks that really shouldn't have happened. They also were very prone to pinch flats. Nothing sucks more than sitting on the side of a trail 3 miles into state gameland changing blown tube as the sunlight begins to fade - except maybe the time my front end broke traction in a fast turn, causing me to wipe out and damage my front brake lever... When i received the DHR II and opened the box, i was instantly blown away by how much thicker and more durable the construction of this tire was, as compared the the Conti, whose sidewall feels like paper compared to the DHR II. Mounting the tire on my 29" rim was a piece of cake. I wanted to get out on the trail right away, so i didn't have time to convert it to tubeless, but i plan to. I knew i was in for a treat, just by running my hand over this tire. The compound is sticky and the tread is aggressive. An hour later, i was on the trail, and man did this tire perform! I shredded those rocky uphills without once breaking traction, and kept the rear stable and predictable on the downhills and turns. Braking could not possibly get any better - the tire digs in and gives great control on the downhills. I can't wait to get the DHF for the front, so i can hit the turns fast without my front end getting loose on me. If you're counting ounces on your bike, this is not the tire for you. If you want durability and maximum traction in rough terrain, stop shopping and buy this tire!! This is so far the most profound upgrade i have done to my bike. ... show more

  • Very nice tire grippy for sure

  • The "standard" rear tire for this part of the country
Size: 27.5x2.40WTinch
wears well, reasonably fast rolliing, good traction. It's not great on roots though.

  • Available in 26"!!!
Size: 26x2.30inch
It is getting difficult to find quality 26" tires any more but this tire come through with a just adequate width for the stance of my bike. I run a 2.3" in front and definitely did not want a narrower back tire because that's stupid. It replace big knobby Bontrager Big Earl 2.35"tires so they definitely handle different. While not quite as grippy as the Big Earl, it is more responsive to all the crap I run over. All in all good sturdy tire. ... show more

  • Good tire
Size: 29x2.30inch
Replaced the stock tires on my Trek mountain bike with Maxxis Minion respective front/rear type. The stock tires were probably ok for packed dirt trail or a dirt road. They would slide off roots or rocks in the woods though and any amount of incline with loose material would spin out trying to pedal. If it had rained recently and there was any moisture to anything may as well have been riding slicks on a patch of ice. The Maxxis Minions in comparison track like you're riding on rails. Absorb shock better, conform to rocks and roots and grip them better with less chance of sliding off and out from under you. Loose material or wet dirt they dig in and find something to provide traction on. With these tires I can actually find mountain biking enjoyable now. ... show more
