We were very pleased with our first purchase of this product and decided to purchase again. Nice product design that matches the other lights in our home. Very pleased with the bright white light generated. Litterally took all of three minutes to install. That being said it appears we received previously used unit. Upon opening the amazon box the product box was open and the product partly exposed. Upon examining the unit it was scratched all over the unit, there is a dent in the edge, one of the lens screw caps is stripped and wouldnt go on. The botton of the unit is greasy and wires were obviously twisted is a wire nut. Seeing it is eing used in our laundry room and not really visible we have cleaned up the unit, restripped the wires for appropriate wire nuts, and retapped the lens nuts to properly seat on the unit. Poor quality control on this second unit. But unit is functional. ... show more

We used this to replace our old “boob light” on the bathroom of our kids’ bathroom. We like the black color, and it updated the room quite a bit. It isn’t a “statement” light fixture, but it does update the room and do it’s job. It was very easy to switch out and install. The entire process took maybe 10 minutes and went smoothly. Ordered on December 11. Time of death, January 1. I liked it for the short time it worked. Update- cause of failure was white wire on the light was factory stripped too deep causing most strands to break off when installing wire nuts. Connection worked itself loose. I really love these new lights. I just bought a house and I really needed to replace all of the old light fixtures. These were extremely affordable and hands-down the easiest light I bought to install even for an older house where the electrical boxes arent all uniform. They are not too bright at all. This light is very bright. We put it in a small half-bath and it lights that place up like noon-day. Light fixture looks great and all of the LED's lit up. Please note that you can't change the LED light bulbs in this fixture. But by they time they wear out in 20 years it will be out of style anyway! ... show more

Update: went to Lowe’s and bought a quality Lutron switch and the lights no longer flicker when dimming. I learned to not buy off brand switches from Amazon. Changed my rating to five stars. —— I bought two of these along with new Dimming capable switches. The lights flicker on anything but full power. I can only recommend for a full on application. Put these up in bedrooms that had old incandescent fixtures. These buggers are lightweight, don't get too hot, and were easy to install even for a novice like me - who can change switches and fixtures here and there as long as they aren't too hard to figure out. Should've changed them long ago. Love the fact that they are LED, I won't have to change lightbulbs, and should last for years. I'd definitely buy again and recommend to anyone. ... show more

    • installation hardware is hopeless

I never complain in reviews because normally there's a pretty simple workaround for installation issues that are less than ideal, but this is an exception. I was trying to match an Altair AL-3151 that I got from Costco, but they don't make it any more. This one looks close, but quality is not near as good. It comes with a packet of machine screws that are mixed metric and SAE threads, and the instructions give no clue as to where the metric screws go and where the SAE screws go. I tried all combinations but still ended up guessing wrong, resulting in frozen and stripped screw heads that I had to remove with vice grips. And the holes in the little installation bar where you're supposed to screw the light fixture in are blocked by the junction box. The light had better last...I'll be pretty mad if I have to go through the installation hassle again any time soon. ... show more
