I bought this because it was a contemporary design that won't look out of date quickly. I got it as part of my kitchen remodeling project. This fixture is very noticeably brighter than the old florescent of similar size... a benefit I really appreciated! It let's you choose from three different "colors" of white light, cool, warm, or daylight. You do this with switches inside the fixture, before you secure the cover. The cover is easy to install with finger tightening nobs over screws. The best feature in my opinion is that it is dimmable. So you can have it bright while cooking meals and dimmer for creating a more romantic dinner. The dimmable feature allows it to need used in other rooms as well. Our first experience with an all permanent LED fixture at our last house was wonderful so we knew when we moved into a house with a poorly lit kitchen and dim color schemes to boot that we would do the same. Pretty sure the last was also Maxxima brand. We had it about 8 years, on a timer/motion sensor. This one has now been up a month. We chose the brightest of its 3 settings. The lower 2 settings were too warm and with our walls' dim color scheme it exacerbated the dinginess. We love it. ... show more
