I tried another device that I found on Amazon that looks just like this one, but the laser beams were too dim. This one, however, works perfectly. Bight beams! Turns on when it detects you car moving in, and turns off after 10 seconds. I love it.

I have the silver version, mounted to the ceiling. The motion detector seems to cover a broad area, and is easily triggered by the opening garage door. It is also triggered by movement in the garage, which is to be expected. Installation was easy. For a ceiling installation one removes the baseplate (push down on the tab and slide the silver part toward the top of the black tab), marks three holes on the ceiling using the baseplate as a template, drill pilot holes, and screw the baseplate to the ceiling. I used a stud finder to be sure the screws hit wood. For a wall mount, they include the option of two strips of double-stick foam tape (not to be used for a ceiling mount). The cord on the AC transformer is long enough (8-9 feet?) to easily reach the ceiling outlet that was meant for an opener (I have a SideJack). The laser spot was bright, even with the garage door open in sunny Southern California. The lasers in their mounts are tight enough that the laser holds its position when set. Contrary to some complaints, the device shuts off promptly. You just have to hold still and make certain nothing is moving in the garage. The Maxsa Innovations 37312 laser guided parking device is inexpensive, less goofy than a tennis ball, and more accurate than the old ultra-sonic ones. It’s very handy if parking in your garage needs to be precise, due to limited space or obstacles. And for those people who don’t think they need one, may I suggest that perhaps someone else in the family might benefit from it. Installation note: Try to leave yourself enough room to get up on a ladder and adjust the laser while the car is parked in position. If the device is directly over the car, you may not be able to reach, and will have to adjust through repeat guesses, while the car is backed out of the way. ... show more

I purchased this MAXSA 37312 Park Right Dual Laser Parking Guide and I Love It ! I narrowed it down to 3 different types: Laser, parking block on garage floor, and a wall attachment that changed color as you approached your correct spot. I am SO glad I went with this laser model because it's out of the way and has worked consistently for the 2 1/2 months I've had it. It was easy to install and the length of the power cord was more than sufficient as I ran it through ceiling and into my utility room in the garage for plug access; very pleased with that. The only thing that was an issue is the lateral range of motion to direct the laser where I wanted it to go. I cut a little more of the plastic retainer housing until I could direct the laser beam out a little further. However, the motion activation is flawless and I love the fact that the laser point travels up the hood of my car where I can see it and make a correction if needed to get it to the aim point which is the wiper fluid button on the hood. I'm able to park my truck in the garage perfectly each time so I'm not bumping anything in front of me and the garage door closes without hitting my bumper now. The motion detector works perfectly so far. The laser hasn’t moved. Not very easy to install and align laser while car is parked underneath it but still very well worth it.

My garage is pretty tall, like 20ft or so, so a lot of light comes in. The inside of my car is black and mixed with the bright sun, the laser light is invisible on my dash. I works great at night, but unless you have a white interior and less light flooding your garage, I don't recommend. Something is better than nothing I guess, but oh well. ... show more

I have had this in every house we’ve lived it. It’s the high tech version of the tennis ball and string. Cool thing is you can be very precise with it. We have a large garage but it’s narrow between vehicles. This allows us to pin point where to align our cars left and right to make sure we have adequate space between vehicles. Definitely highly recommend…easy install ... show more

    • Battery Backup Does Work

Update to below. The battery backup now works. The only thing I can imagine from it's initial behavior is that some slow capacitance needed to build up in the circuit for the backup to work. Gave back a star. Still not perfect - the tension on the Laser aim cannot be adjusted. I suspect after a season or two of wide temperature variations the Laser will lose it's target. Easy enough to open the back and put a dab of glue once the target is acquired. Just got this. Without plugging it in, I installed a 9V battery. Laser came on. Plugged the 9V power supply connector into the unit. The Laser shut off. Why? The power supply was not plugged into an outlet. Plugged the 9V power supply into a switched outlet with the switch On. Laser worked fine. Switched the outlet Off. Laser did not work. The interaction between the battery and the 9V power supply appears to be a mechanical function of plugging in the power supply to the unit, and has nothing to do with the presence or absence of any current from an outlet. During any power outage, this fails. Ok, in a power outage I have worse things to worry about, but don't advertise functionality that does not work. Waste of an expensive 9V battery. I this is a flaw in the unit I received, it's not worth the trouble to return. Like many people, I use my garage as a shop when my truck's on the driveway. Thus I move around the shop constantly. The Laser will get an unnecessary workout. A better design would separate the Laser and motion sensor for locating them where their functions are each optimized. Otherwise, the combination of sensor and Laser is an excellent solution to my parking problem. ... show more
