These hoops are my young plants’ and tender greens’ new best friend. Living in South Louisiana, we are no strangers to voracious critters, disease-ridden bugs and harsh weather conditions. These hoops helped to provide the protection our veggies needed, improving the quality of our harvests big time! We had a lot fewer problems with insects eating our crop as well as the sun scorching the tender leaves. Squirrels and birds were kept at bay and we didn’t have to worry about damage from frost on those rare occasions. They are super easy to install; we used them all of last year (2 growing seasons) — they held up great. They survived some really windy weather not to mention driving rain and scorching heat. We used them in raised beds with wooden borders, which I’m sure helped with the support, but we never had problems with them falling over. The rods didn’t break and they didn’t rust (they’re fiberglass), but the ends got stained a bit with rust from the connectors. No biggie. The only downside is that the clips that came with the rods are kind of flimsy and are not easy to work with, especially if the fabric you cover the hoops with has any weight to it. A couple ends broke, only an inch or so with 2 seasons of use. Other than that they serve the purpose.

    • Good modular system for plant crop hoops
Every gardener has this problem. We all plant our little baby seedlings in our beds and then, some animal or weather event comes around. So the solution is to put up a hoop to protect them in their kindergarten stage. There are loads of solutions out there. I chose this solution because I wanted a modular system that I could easily disassemble and put away in a small box to be used for the next season. I don't have space for big PVC hoop systems. My plants wouldn't appreciate being smushed in that hoop system ... especially when what I'm planting is a tomato plant or a bean plant or something that likes to grow big and tall. I also wanted something aesthetically pleasing. I have to see it and that means I need to make it look pleasing. Otherwise, it will just annoy me. I don't want a plumbing system in my back yard. I've successfully used this with the clips they provide. I bought two packages because I have a lot of area to cover. It was very very simple to assemble and it was very very easy to attach my row covers/netting onto these fiberglass rods. They've survived one season and I see no deterioration of the product. No rust. No cracks. Nothing. I suspect I will be able to use this product for a very long time. the one issue that I had was with the flopping. My solution was just to wedge some rocks to hold the ends of the hoop. A low tech, very cheap solution. Also, even if the hoop falls, it can't hurt the seedling. That's a plus. I'd rather sacrifice the hoop than a plant. Remember, when we plan our gardens we need to be aware that those plants will grow. So flexibility in a garden is a very good thing. I'm very happy.     • Don't buy, buy fiberglass rebar instead

14" fiberglass is too short for making larger hoops, and joint sleeves used to connect fiberglass pieces are too loose, require double crimping, and introduce multiple failure points. Making multiple uniform hoops would be difficult, and tedious. The manufacturer did not consider how much work he made for the customer and the end product's fragility. Far better to buy 8ft long by 3/8 inch fiberglass rebar and bend it into hoops. No joint sleeves with crimping are needed and far more sturdy. The clips provided were cheap; better to buy clips from Office Supply than to use the ones provided ... show more

Easy to put together, recommend duct taping the connectors since some fit more snug than others. Can make varied lengths so very flexible in that regard. Be prepared to order more than you initially may think as it’s very handy to create different lengths due to shrub height.

Exactly want I needed. I put bamboo sticks through the top clip loops and zip tied it together to give it more support so it would be sturdy across the top.

    • Frustrating to Install

These pieces work fine, and achieve their purpose; however, when assembling, the fasteners don’t hold the sticks together, leaving them to fall out until you stick in the ground. While I understand that this design makes them more versatile, some string within that could be cut to the desired length would make this a five star project. Also, the clips do not fit over the fasteners, but the gap between the fasteners isn’t long enough to clip on either side. Product needs some fine tuning. ... show more
