  • Great quality and cost efficient
Style: GX6021-Print, Scan,Copy and ADF
Bought this to replace an old Epson all-in-one that still worked well but shut done unexpectedly when it said the waste ink pads were full. You can buy the parts but then need a code from Epson to reset. I actually got a code (only works with Windows) but it still insisted I bring it in for authorized service. Obviously no more Epson products in my home! There are fewer ink tank printers out there than regular cartridge printers, but it is well worth the cost and effort to find an ink tank printer such as this. Instead of 12 - 30 ml of ink in a typical cartridge (of which some is always wasted), you get 132 ml of each color and 167 ml black ink included with the printer. You can also see the ink level and can refill whenever you want, so no more frantic late night trips to Staples when you have a report due the next day. Setup is easier than it sounds. My computers and printer are all connected via wifi and each computer connects on its own to the printer. You initially fill the 4 ink tanks (bottles make it fool-proof) then print a page that it uses to check alignment. The instructions then tell you to download a program from Canon, which I did for my first computer. However, I skipped that step for my other computers (all Macs), as well as my phone, and they were all able to find the printer and connect almost immediately without having to download any additional programs or drivers. The downloaded Canon program facilitates printing and scanning, but really does nothing different or better than what already comes on the Mac. As others have mentioned, you need to go into settings and disable auto-off, so that the printer is able to respond to print jobs wirelessly. This uses minimal energy – less than a typical nightlight. Quality is great. I would have no concerns about using this for making handouts that contain print and graphics for business meetings. I've only printed photos on plain paper so far but they are vibrant and look very good. This machine comes with all pigment (as opposed to dye) ink. Pigment ink tends to cost a bit more, but the ink already comes included with the printer. Pigment ink also is more durable and UV resistant, and much less resistant to water smearing. (The HP tank printer that I looked at only used pigment ink for black, but dye ink for colors.) I purposely tried to smear the output from this printer with water, and was very pleased with the result. Scanning quality is very good and works with my Mac natively. And as expected, copy quality is also very good. If you need to change any settings, the touchscreen on the printer is bright and easy to use. One additional benefit of this machine is the rear printer slot which you can use for thick card stock that would typically not work in the paper tray. Overall, an excellent printer. The initial cost is higher, but the much lower ink costs make this a bargain in the long run. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Great All in one printer for my home office
Style: GX2020-Print, Scan,Copy and ADF
This product replaced an HP All in One whose print head had given up after 10 years. I loved the HP and intended to find an HP replacement but when I saw what HP was offering these days, I was terribly disappointed at how cheap and flimsy the offerings were. The other downside was the continued price increase of HP cartridges. So, I started looking elsewhere, read a lot of reviews and ultimately settled on this Cannon GX 2020. It was easy to set up, just follow the instructions online, and it was up and running in less than an hour. It prints at a reasonable speed for me, does double sided operations, scans well, and print quality is quite good. Best of all, it has a document feeder, a very large paper tray, an ink tank, so no more expensive cartridges, and comes with a complete set of ink bottles for each color. I priced refills before I bought this machine and found the savings over HP cartridges to be very significant. So, all in all I am very satisfied with this printer. It's fairly quiet too and I can print from my phone as well as my desktop PC. Longevity is yet to be seen, since I have only had it for a couple of months, but it's a solid quality machine compared to everything HP and others are selling with flimsy plastic covers / parts, so it looks like it should last a long time. It looks good also next to my desk. Hard to go wrong for the price. I'm very satisfied ... show more

  • Not great with cardstock UPDATED REVIEW
Style: GX2020-Print, Scan,Copy and ADF
Updated January 2025: After using the printer for 6 months, I have discovered that if you print on card stock one side at a time instead of duplex, it doesn’t come out with the curl. We printed over 100 Christmas cards and they came out fine this way. Print quality is decent. After 6 months of use and printing hundreds of pages, most in color, the ink levels are down by only about 1/3! The printer is loud and makes odd noises but seems to be working fine. Overall rating 4 stars. End of update. I purchased this printer to replace my years-old Canon MX922 (best printer ever!). I specifically bought the new GX2020 to handle cardstock, since I print on it frequently. Every piece of cardstock I have printed on has come out with a very pronounced curl, which does not resolve even after drying. In addition, when printing on cardstock, I recommend using the standard print setting, not the high quality. When printing cardstock in high quality, there are many streaks and smudges on the card. Printing cardstock with standard print setting yields acceptable results, although still with the curl. The other functions of the GX2020 work well and give great results when printing on plain paper. Text and images are sharp and colors are very good. Two-sided printing works well also. Scanning and copying are easy and give good results. Two-sided scanning takes a little work, but is not too bad. Photo printing on glossy paper was adequate but not great. The liquid ink seems like it will be a great money saver compared to individual ink tanks like the MX922 used. The associated app for printing and scanning from a phone works well on my spouse's Android. It did not work on the iPhone but I can print using Apple print, so I deleted the app. Overall, I'd give the printer a 4 star rating for everyday printing, although I am disappointed that the main purpose I bought it for is not satisfactory which is why I am giving it 3 stars. ... show more
