  • Great printer for the basics
I got this printer for college and for my small business and it's a good one. The price was decent, easy set up, looks nice, the ink is refillable, and the color prints turn out well. My full page color print took about 10 seconds. Only thing that I get a bit frustrated with is connectivity. It's constantly back off line in between uses and I have to troubleshoot. I have an HP PC and the apps so I don't understand why it's so finicky. It could be my Internet but all my other devices automatically connect if there is a brief interruption in Wi-Fi signal. So it may be a setting I haven't figured just yet. ... show more

  • GREAT PRINTER SO FAR
First off let me say this: all the reviews stating difficulties setting up were telling the TRUTH!!! By the time I was in touch with a live person, the machine miraculously connected. REALLY?!?!?!! Since I had them on the line, I had THEM walk me through finishing the setup (and he was just as clueless as I was). I finally got the printer heads in and I was good to go. I LOVE the fact that it has larger, separate ink tanks which should help with saving money on ink. CONS: Top loading paper tray; No sd card slots; Prints slower; Other than that, the quality of the printer is great. The larger ink tanks are awesome, although the bottles of cyan, magenta and yellow are half the size of the black ink bottle. I would've thought it would be equal amounts of ink bottles for all colors. The price is great and you have a choice of warranties to purchase as well as insurance. I purchased this printer to print photos onto iron on paper. I did a test print of said photos on paper and the photos look great (even for the size they were in on letter size paper). I believe I found a great printer. ... show more

  • Avoid this HP Printer – Absolute Waste of Money and Time!
I am beyond frustrated with the HP Smart Tank 5000 (model 5D1B6A). From the moment I unboxed this so-called printer, it’s been nothing but a headache, all because of a defective black printhead. HP’s customer support has been useless. They’ve given me the runaround with the same old advice: turn it off and on again, or yank out the printhead and reinstall, useless suggestions that did absolutely nothing to solve the problem. Frustrated to the point of desperation, I decided to put out an extra $60 for a new printhead, only to find that getting one for this specific model is like searching for a needle in a haystack. HP’s website? No luck. Amazon? Nothing. Now to add to the frustration I have to pack this thing up, with ink wells full and hope it doesn’t leak through the box before I drop it off at the UPS store to return it. This has been a colossal waste of time, money, and patience. A brand-new printer shouldn’t come with such basic, flaws, and the lack of available parts is just the cherry on top of this disaster. I would not recommend the HP Smart Tank 5000 to anyone, but if this stops one person from making the same mistake and avoid this frustration, I can sleep a little better at night. ... show more

  • Overall decent printer
The HP Smart Tank 5000 is a decent printer with some great features. The ink tank system is cost-effective and lasts a long time, making it ideal for frequent printing. The print quality is solid for both documents and photos, and the wireless capabilities are a convenient addition. However, I’ve had some issues when printing long documents, as it occasionally lags or struggles to keep up. The setup process was also a bit more complicated than expected. While it’s not perfect, it’s a good budget-friendly option for light to moderate use. ... show more

  • Color Me Impressed
For a while, the only printer I would buy for home use was an HP. But when the last cartridge inkjet HP printer I owned went through ink like a drunken sailor and it would not accept aftermarket cartridges, I was done with HP. I then switched to Epson, which I was very happy with for a while. Even though my first Epson printer used cartridges, the ink lasted a long time. But after that printer died, I bought two more Epson printers, both of which went through cartridges. Then when my most recent Epson WF-3820 inkjet printer did a firmware update and refused to recognize my already-installed cartridges, I was done with Epson. Having sworn off HP previously, I was ready to switch to Canon, but their setup seemed very user unfriendly. As a result, I swallowed my pride and went with the HP Smart Tank 5000. which was inexpensive and uses ink bottles. I haven't owned the HP for that long, but I am very happy with it. Setup was a breeze and unlike my last Epson (which would drop the wifi fairly frequently). No such problem with the HP Smart Tank 5000, which also came with more than a year's worth of ink. And the replacement ink bottles are not too expensive either. While the printing speed could be better, that's a small sacrifice to make for good quality prints, reliability, and a long-lasting ink supply. I highly recommend this printer. Hopefully I haven't jinxed myself. ... show more

  • Best printer hands down! Worth every penny!
I’ve had this awhile now and it set up so easy and I love that it has refillable color tanks!! I’ve yet to have a jam or ink run out! Works perfect with my laptop or phone. Fast when it begins to print. Excellent print quality. Fits nicely on my printer stand. Love the touch screen.
