This is very, very close to the old Max Factor Pancake Foundation, which I used for some 20 years or so. My favorite because you put it on with a wet sponge. This is very close, I use a small sea sponge to apply this Cream Puff Candle Glow and it covers well and color is close to my skin color. Take my advice and order you some sea sponge’s, you can get them on Amazon, but do pay attention to description as some will not be from the sea, and will be just an ordinary sponge made to look like a real sea sponge. This is really a key ingredient to getting a smooth look. I did try the 41 medium beige, but it is a very light beige. I have pretty fair skin, but the 41 was still too light. ... show more

I'm.glad to see this available, I've missed the old pancake pressed powder foundation that was available in the U.S. (#125 & 129, depending on the season) and the Cream Puff #41 seems to work well for me. I was surprised to see that it said "pressed powder" on the cover instead of "powder foundation" but decided to follow the advice of other posters and see if I could use it the same way as the old pancake powder foundation. There was never an applicator included with the pancake version so I assumed the foam included with this was packaging material to insure that the cake isn't damaged before purchase. If it IS the applicator, that's quite disappointing and I would never use it. But since I thought it was packing foam, I threw it away immediately and used my own damp sponge applicator, which resulted in the coverage I remember and miss from the U.S. version. It also worked well when brushed on dry for lighter coverage. I don't know its effects on dry skin but think it would be best for oiler complexions since it's not a creme product. This powder will go on just like the pan cake make-up from back in the day with a wet sponge. One down side is the color is slightly darker but not enough to be a bad thing I usually get 129 in pan. It is only 21g of product whereas the old pan cake is 41g so you might be paying about the same, this one might last longer though because I did not need much wet to apply over the whole face. When you can no longer find old fashion pan this will work. On the better side after applying this wet after it dries I have been able to cap it and toss it in my purse as a powder for during the day and the coverage as a regular powder is comparable to the wet application of traditional pan cake, in fact, I might like it more but only time will tell. The $14-15 price is a lot easier to handle then the $30-45 for the traditional pan cake! ... show more

I have used Max Factor Pan Cake Makeup since the 1980's. They are no long making this product. I have been having to pay 40-60 dollars for it on EBay. Well I got tired of paying that much for foundation so I went searching for something comparable. I found it! This product is the closest product I found. You can use the same sponge you use with the pan cake makeup and apply wet or you can use as a powder with the sponge they provide. It applies slightly different but looks good. It is darker than you would expect but ok for the summer. Also, it is smaller than the pan cake foundation, but this is not a problem for me. I am so happy I have found this product at a much more affordable price. You still get the Max factor name and quality. I recommend this product. ... show more

I've used Max Factor Pancake make-up for 65 years and was distraught when I could no longer find it! Bought this in desperation even tho I had to pay for shipping from the UK. Was amazed at how easy it was to apply (dry) and the coverage was just as good as the old pancake! Especially over the area under my eyes, where I have dark circles covered by another slightly oily product. In the container it appears lighter than the pancake, but when applied it looks the same. This listing is cheaper, has many colors and ships free. So happy to find it! ... show more

Very lovely powder, I love Max Factor products, they are great. Looks great, feels nice on skin. I don't like the sponge that comes with it, but I changed it out with another I have and it works great. Very soft looking powder on the face, sets nice, easily used with a brush or pad/sponge. Smells very old fashioned, but honestly the smell is gone within minutes on the face, I rather like it anyhow. Fantastic product. I have used maxfactor product before but i have never used its puff powder, its alright, the shade looked different in the picture and received a much lighter shade, the applicator in the pack looks really cheap, returning the product...
