  • Great sprayer, especially with simple upgrades
I used this sprayer for a few years, then got the Devilbiss TE20 cap as recommended by a couple other reviewers. I also picked up a nice air flow regulator. The regulator that comes with the gun isn’t great and the dial fogs up. The gun works like a dream after these two simple upgrades. I highly recommend this gun. Works pretty well without the upgrades, but it’s fantastic with them, and at a very reasonable price point. ... show more

  • Great gun, but it can be awesome!
This is a really great gun and you can make it out of this world by buying the Devilbiss TE20 cap as Troy suggested (see his review) . It's pricey for the cap but you're still only halfway price wise total as compared to other brands. The TE20 cap fits perfectly and wow is all I can say. The gun itself is assembled well and you can tell it's more of a precision piece of equipment when you pull the trigger (it's super smooth) . The weight is nice and has a more balanced feel to it. This gun can spray like a $700.00 + unit with an air cap upgrade. I don't use the regulators that come with any spray guns as they're usually an after thought and don't work right anyway..... pressure creep and volume drop can destroy a paint job! ... show more

  • Great spray gun
I bought this through the Amazon warehouse for a lower price. It wasn't in the condition I expected to get. It had been used and not cleaned, I would not call that "good" condition. Would not have paid the price I did if I had known its actual condition. So after fully disassembling and cleaning it's in good condition. I love this gun for the price. I typically use a devilbiss tekna prolite, this thing is identical and sprays identical. You can't beat this gun for the cost. Even new is less than half the price of the devilbiss, and includes more tip sets. Sprays so smooth I would recommend this to anyone needing a spray gun UPDATE I just used both of these spray guns today to spray coat coat. They do not spray the same! I still love this gun for base coats, but the devilbiss sprays so much cleaner with clear coat. ... show more

  • Good atomization, good quality.
This gun is built with high standards. It has produced excellent finishes constantly throughout all my projects. It does consume a lot of air so you will need a large compressor. The gun is on the heavy side and the trigger pull is a bit stiff. Notches on the regulating valves would have been nice to have but it doesn’t take away from the amazing finishes this gun produces. ... show more

  • Good Value, Good Gun
I have shot 3 coats of primer, one coat of sealer, two coats of color base, and one coat of clear coat with this thing without any hitches. I am very pleased with the results so far. Works as well as the Iwata and Sata guns that my cohorts use.

  • Same Quality Guns Available for Less Money
I will begin at the beginning. This gun is beautiful out of the box, and you can tell it is quality. It came with a quart-size cup. I was a little skeptical about the snugness of the plastic cap, but was reassured it was tight enough after tripping over the air hose, knocking the spray gun out of the holder and onto the table (while it was full of paint). The plastic cap also has a plug for the vent which can be closed when needed. The first bad experience was when I set the gun into the TCP Global piece-of-crap spray gun stand. The sharp edges of the stand instantly scratched the very thin finish on the gun, down to the aluminum. I applied tape all over the stand, but the damage was done. I use Milton Type P fittings for all my air tools, so I adapted the spray gun for this, after attaching the pressure regulator. I was looking forward to using the regulator, as I had never sprayed with one. I never needed one, because my "go-to" spray gun was a true HVLP Lexaire gun that uses 110 cfm @ about 6 psi, supplied from a Citation 3-stage turbine. Any gun that uses an air compressor is NOT a true HVLP gun. The first thing I noticed is that the pressure regulator gauge would not work as expected. With the spray gun air knob wide open and no trigger, the pressure gauge simply read the line pressure of my compressor. When I squeezed the trigger on the gun, the pressure reading dropped to ZERO, and a little air was spraying out of the gun. I monkeyed with this gauge for at least 20 minutes with no success. I ended up calling TCP Global and speaking with a jerk in Customer Service. I was about to tell him I was packing it all up and returning it, but he said he would send me a replacement air pressure gauge. When that one came, it worked exactly like the first one! I then tried the gauge on two of my other spray guns, and it worked perfectly on them. So the problem is NOT the gauge, it is the SPRAY GUN. And then, I discovered quite by accident that I could get the spray gun and the pressure regulator gauge to seemingly work correctly by performing a work-around. With my compressor set to approx. 60 psi line pressure, I opened up the regulator knob on the spray gun regulator all the way. Then, while holding the gun trigger wide open, I adjusted the spray gun air control to achieve about 28 psi. The gauge showed 28 psi, and the fan of air coming out of the gun seemed to verify this. This is not how it is supposed to work! I filled the cup with thinner and gave it a try. With the fan opened all the way, it was able to produce a very wide pattern with even distribution and no spatter. Increasing the air, I was able to create a poor pattern that was wet on both ends, but dry in the middle. . . not what you want. I have only painted a primed bumper cover with this gun, and the results were not good. I will say it was not likely the fault of the gun. I did not check the viscosity of the paint after mixing (PPG Delfleet 5.0 urethane). This was the paint that was leftover from painting my airplane in 2006, so it's a wonder it was still viable. Looking back, it certainly needed more thinner, and I should have changed the fluid nozzle from 1.3 to probably 1.5. I will now have to wet sand the orange peel to get the desired flat surface. This gun was a piece of cake to clean! After cleaning the cup separately, I screwed it back on and shot about a cup of acetone through the gun. When I disassembled the gun for further cleaning, it was already spotless! That is a big plus. The included four available combo's of air cap, fluid needle, and fluid nozzle is another big plus. But finding out the Customer Service department is very hard to deal with may become a bigger problem. . . time will tell. And I can't get past the weird way the pressure regulator gauge works with this specific gun. I saw a post on YouTube that describes the same thing. Bottom line, if I had it to do over again, I probably would not have bought it. But now I have it, and I suspect when I get the settings right and get the paint viscosity right, it will work fine. ... show more
