Quality control must have been lacking. Before installing, I took the cap, rotor and dust cover off to make sure everything looked good. All 3 of the wires inside were loose. The 2 that go to the coil weren't quite seated all the way. It's possible that this could cause misfire. Maybe not, but I'm glad I checked. The wire to the camshaft position sensor was barely on the post. It was sticking up so high that it was actually bent over when the dust cover was installed. If I had just installed it as received, and it happened to work, it probably would have stopped working before too long. After making sure all the wires were fully seated, and inspecting the rest inside, I closed it back up and installed it. My 2003 Xterra runs great now. The parts are all kind of cheap feeling, but they work. I've only had it in for 2 weeks, so I can't say how durable it is yet. 3 stars because of the loose wires inside. So I replaced the distributor on Monday, drove to and from the gym. Tuesday morning I left for work and about 3 blocks away my car misfires and then just dies in the middle of the street. After 4.5 hours of headache I got pissed off enough to tear apart this part only to quickly find out this little set screw was missing. I pulled the distributor out and turned it over when the screw and lock washer fell out. This means FROM THE FACTORY that screw was not properly tightened down. Got everything put back together and after $23 in parts, $45 in tools, and 4.5 hours of time I could have been working taken from me, car turned right over. ... show more

Pretty sure the most difficult part of installing this was getting the engine to top dead center from below by myself...a lot of up and down until right on the money. Noted position of the rotor, placed the new one in after aligning the marks on it. After a few attempts got it just right. Bolted it down and put the cap back on and moved the wires over from the old cap. Then she fired right up! Thank you for a reasonably priced part to fix up my old truck! ... show more

I installed this distributor the day I received it. Worked great for 4 months, then the same problem with stalling and loss of power started again. This is a very dangerous thing as my truck would stall going down the highway at speed, if a quick reaction was needed due to traffic or accident it could lead to an even greater accident. The least these manufacturers could do is not cheap out on components that will fail prematurely and endanger people. ... show more

Would have given 5 stars if item was packaged better, the box it came in had no tape or anything to keep it closed. (See photo). The distributor installed easy and solved the issue of not starting I was having. Definitely recommend this product If it’s what your car needs!
