I’m impressed at how heavy this is. It would easily card two bicycles much heavier than my one. Once bikes are remove, my CRV back hatch opens fine. It does stick out away from the car a bit. That hasn’t been a problem yet, but be careful where you park. I do recommend it, though.

I bought the regular 2 bike version for about $85. Heavy duty metal construction. Easily adjustable for different size/length bikes. Vertical clamp holds top of frame down and Velcro straps hold wheels to the cradles. No locks, but I did use a locking chain to add another layer of security, in case anything came loose. I took 2 adult bikes on a 1200 mile trip with no issues. My favorite part of this is how securely it attaches to the receiver hitch. It BOLTS on, which makes the connection so tight it feels like it’s part of my suv. I previously owned a hitch rack where the bikes hung from the frame instead of sitting in cradles. That hitch bounced all over the place on bumps and at highway speeds. This hitch has no bounce at all! One complaint, and thus the 4 stars. The handles to tighten the cradles and the hold-down bars are plastic and hurt my hands. I was able to lightly tap with a rubber mallet once it got too tight for me to hand tighten. I expect those plastic handles to get brittle and break eventually. However, once they break, I will replace the handles with bolts and just use a wrench. Overall, a great value, considering comparable racks from “name brand” companies run over $500. P.S. make sure you yank the frame hold-downs a few times. They can feel tight but still move a little (or a lot on a long trip) ... show more

    • A lock for when carrying the bike

It's an awesome product. I like it a lot. Would like to recommend to integrate a secure lock for the bike when loaded into it. The way it is now could, if I go to the store, with the bike on it, be stolen easily.

    • Scratched bike first use.

Takes some time and a large adjustable wrench to set up. Not a big deal but plan accordingly. My bike did seem sturdier while driving than I thought it was going to be after I initially placed on on the rack. It is secured by the wheels dropping in and some small not-quite-ratchet straps and the top bar comes down to kind of lock it upright. That top securing bar is what scratched my brand new bike. Those red tubes that fit over the bar, arent very tight over the tubing so it let the metal poke through. Lesson learned, check to make sure those are covering the ends when placing or removing your bike. My tires are 2.4 wide and just large enough to fall down into the wheel slots and be a pain to get them out after you drive. They take a bit of force. Overall, it does what I want it to. It sticks pretty far out the hitch so I wish that part was foldable as well. It takes up some decent room when not in use. ... show more

The wheel holders slide in and out to adjust to your bike. Problem, the knobs that do the tightening are a bear to tighten, very difficult. The slider hooks that adjust up or down to hold the bike frame have the same problem. I am going to take them apart and apply some silicone to see if that helps. Love the rack for the way it holds the bikes and the adjustments available. The tightening of the adjustment slides is a killer. ... show more

the pin used to secure the frame to the 2” receiver on the car IS THREADED AND TOOLS REQUIRED TO PUT ON OR TAKE OFF. cannot be used like any other trailer hitch with pin. those install or remove in seconds. this cannot be done by hand; a wrench is required. the threads are about 5/8” in length so a ratchet is suggested—-it is very tight—too tight for any ease of use. ... show more
