I simply do not know what materials elicit he $200 price tag. The only reason I can think of is that the boards are heavy. I am not sure if these bolts are meant to withstand this amount of weight but I guess I'll check every two weeks. It's very hard to install and the direction are bad. For instance, if you've never installed lag bolts before you won't know to drill the pilot hole as deep as you can. It seems many mounting hardware gives bad advice in their manuals. If you don't drill the pilot hole as deep as possible with a 3/16" drill the bolts will NOT GO IN! Make sure you do an even smaller test hole than that beforehand to ensure that wood dust comes out so you know you are in the stud. Lastly, do not drill the support beam into the wall all the way before resting the brackets onto it (the instructions are not clear on this). I'm giving it 4/5 because it seems to work and dinging it one star because of bad instructions and frustrating install for newbies ... show more

I'm no novice when it comes to building furniture kits, so this should've been an easy job.... It look me 6-7 HOURS to get it all done due to various manufacturing problems with this product. Also, you're probably gonna need your drill a lot for this one... 1.) Center divider piece had pre-drilled holes where the cam lock dowels are supposed to be inserted... problem is the holes did not get drilled far enough to reach where the cam locks! I had to figure out what drill bit to use and drill out the holes through myself! See accompanied photos for the lack of holes... 2.) The other side pieces thankfully had holes for the cam dowels to go through.... except they are off-centered so much that the cam locks cannot turn and lock onto the dowels. ONCE AGAIN, I had to take out the drill and slightly shave down the pre-drilled hole so the dowels could be centered ever so slightly until the cam locks could successfully engage the dowels. (See photos...) 3.) More misaligned pre-drilled holes... I had to slightly shave down another pre-drilled hole so the hilo screw could actually reach the barrel nut. 4.) The instructions didn't say what size drill bit to use for the stud screws. 5.) When mounting the console onto the wall cleat, make sure where the stud screws are placed... I was sure I had the screws that went into the studs in a good place that wouldnt interfere with where the L brackets would slide into, but didn't anticipate the inner L bracket getting blocked by one of the stud screws. I had to take one of the top stud screws out just so I could mount the console (see last photo). I really don't like the idea of one side being supported by only one screw. Hoping the other 2 studs will have to do. Perhaps consider making the heads of the stud screws flat so that it could be flush and won't interfere with the L bracket sliding over it. 6.) ALSO MORE DRILLING, I had to drill my own holes into the wall cleat just so it'd all match up to the studs in the wall. I really wish the instructions had this sort of information if drilling your own holes here was safe or recommended or not. For $180, I expected this to be at least decently made without the customer having to make any modifications just to get it built as per included instructions. I really liked the look and style of this piece, but just the whole process of one manufacturing nuisance after the next soured my experience. Future buyers beware. ... show more

Fairly easy to assemble, though the instructions are fairly minimal. Seems pretty sturdy, but I really only have two issues: 1. The cleat was warped (see pictures) 2. The holes I needed to screw into on the left side were blocked by the bracket that is supposed to go in front of the cleat

This is definitely one of the better quality pieces of furniture in my home. Super sturdy and really heavy. The finish unfortunately isn’t a real wood finish they used some type of plastic veneer BUT that makes the surface very hard and resilient while still looking really good. Mine’s a mess right now but I think it’d be a good idea to paint the wall inside it black as well since you can still see some paint through the inside. I tend to over do things so I mounted mine with a bunch of toggle bolts and long screws into each stud I came across. I really tried using every screw hole through the mounting piece of wood. All in all I would highly recommend this if you were considering purchasing. The only downside is that the insides are just a little too short to fit my Sonos Play:5 in them so I have to keep the speaker on top. ... show more

    • Clean, simple and sturdy

The media could not be loaded. I love the clean look, sturdy and fits in nicely under the TV (it’s a 60” and the tv is 55”- - definitely it should be placed about 6-7 inches and centered under the TV (not above the TV stand doesn’t look as good above eye level). Would recommend two handymen/women to install, mainly because it is heavy and hard to balance it yourself, keep it level, and you need a stud finder. It must be attached to the wall studs for safety and sturdiness. Bar for attaching to the studs was better than other shelves of this type. The installer used a cable management enclosure (got on Amazon it’s a foam cable management piece which hides and centers the wires) to hide the wires (the photo is before I had that done. ) There are no doors on the floating shelf, so the good points are that it’s easy access to your remotes and cable boxes, sound bars etc. You don’t have to worry about tv stand doors that have problems closing or are uneven. But the only downside to that is that there are no doors to hide the wires. You still see them inside the unit as there are no doors. I like the simple clean look and sturdiness. Took a long time to figure out which one to get and I’m pleased with my purchase. ... show more
