  • Great for a beginner. Affordable “try on” wheel.
I bought this wheel for my young daughter after she started seeing me use my shimpo wheel. I searched high and low for a very entry level and affordable wheel online. I saw a review of this wheel from a professional potter on Instagram and she said it worked pretty well and was shocked that it did for the price. Professional wheels cost anywhere from $800-2000. So, this wheel, at $150 was a bargain. I figured that even if my daughter tired of it, I could use it as a second wheel for myself. First off, it is very small. Fits my daughter great and would be good for kids 5-10 years old. For adults, you could get leg lifts for it or use it on a table, standing up. Even being small it surprisingly works fairly well! It does slow down a little when you put a lot of pressure and weight on it but you can definitely throw on it. There are no bat pins but you could easily drill some holes in (look on YouTube). The wheel head is a bit smaller than a standard size so you could only use smaller bats. The splash pan feels a little flimsy but it works just like one you’d find on a shimpo wheel. There are two directions for the wheel. The foot pedal is fairly responsive. I’d say the wheel going at top speed is not as fast as a pro wheel. Still, I’m happy with it so far for my daughter. She was thrilled to have her own wheel! Definitely am recommending if this is just a hobby and/or you don’t have a lot of money to start out. You can always sell it and upgrade. ... show more
