  • Not a bad product, but wish I had known it can't do landscape
Style: Universal Smartphone Clamp, Basic Version Pattern Name: Clamp
I bought this to go with my tripod (which I love) not knowing there are two different models. This works well and I have zero complaints about the actual product. I am disappointed though that it can only do portrait. I wish it was in the description. It was probably my own fault for not checking. I really like the products by this brand, and if this fits your needs go for it. If you want to be able to do landscape and portrait, upgrade to the other mount that they offer. ... show more

  • Barely fits the Google Pixel 6 Pro in a thin case!
Style: Universal Smartphone Clamp, Basic Version Pattern Name: Clamp
This is a review for the Manfrotto Smartphone Clamp, Basic Version (MCLAMP), which I picked up along with a Joby mini tripod, even though I had a Manfrotto PIXI. See my review for the Joby for why, but I usually trust Manfrotto's quality and decided to go with their phone clamp. I made sure the measurements described fit my Google Pixel 6 Pro, which is a monster of a phone, and the clamp does in fact fit, though you have to grab it a bit off-centered to avoid the volume buttons. Still, the grip is very secure and stable, even off-centered. I'm not sure if it would've worked if I used a thicker case like an Otterbox though. The MCLAMP has are two 1/4" threaded screws to mount to a tripod or stand: the one in the back is, I'm guessing, used to make the tripod into a stand for viewing. If you don't have a tripod handy, you can also flip out the back panel to create a stand to, say watch movies on a plane. Really good value at $10, especially for a Manfrotto product. ... show more

  • Good, solid smartphone clamp, but perhaps a bit too tight for larger phones
Style: Universal Smartphone Clamp, Basic Version Pattern Name: Clamp
I bought this clamp for a Samsung Galaxy A11. I carefully verified that its specified width would accept my phone, which it does, just barely. I can put it on with a bit of effort (one attempt had me slingshotting the clamp and my handle across the counter). It's so tight that I worry it might put stress on my phone's frame. I have been leaving the clamp with something very wide clamped into it overnight, hoping it might exert some wear on the spring and perhaps loosen it up a bit during normal usage. But it does hold the phone extremely well and its balance while using it is, nice, natural feeling. I'm using a small microphone shaped handle which came with a Zoom audio recorder but the clamp also works well on my Manfroto monopod and on the many and sundry tripods I have on hand. I would not hesitate to buy this very secure clamp, but would warn anyone with phones which come close to its specified maximum width to be sure they know that it's very, very tight. ... show more

  • Works like it should
Style: Universal Smartphone Clamp, Basic Version Pattern Name: Clamp
Got this to make videos for social media, cheap and reliable. Only gripe is the same gripe I have with other clamps: hard to put the phone on. Considering that's consistent with these things for me personally, I have no problems with it

  • OK, not great
Style: Universal Smartphone Clamp, Basic Version Pattern Name: Clamp
I got this because I couldn't find a good metal phone mount at the time (fewer good options then). First, I don't like that this is spring-loaded, though I knew that going in, so I'm not rating based on this. Screw-adjustable tripod mounts are a lot easier to adjust to my liking, and my phone never felt secure in this. My big complaint is that the jaws and pads are tiny. If you're trying a phone without a case, a recent phone will be fine. I've tried with models of iPhones in the last 3 years with the Otterbox Defender and Commuter cases, which are fairly low-profile. The phones have been super unstable in these and want to jump out because there's almost no depth to the jaws of the clamp. I don't trust the clamp at all. My final complaint is that the mount is plastic and just doesn't feel sturdy in general. If you have a really specific need, they'd probably do OK for some light use, but I wouldn't trust it very far. For about 3 bucks more, you can get an excellent phone mount. I'd recommend the Ulanzi ST-03 phone mount if you're looking for one. It's awesome because it's solid metal, adjustable, and folds somewhat flat without the jaws sticking out. I bought one and ended up buying a second because I liked it so much. It has more features than the Manfrotto, including a built-in Arca Swiss mount so you don't have to use the tripod screw, and the build quality is MUCH better. ... show more

  • Flip-out stand on back is MUCH TOO FLIMSY. Broke the first time it was used.
Style: Universal Smartphone Clamp, Basic Version Pattern Name: Clamp
This is overall a nice phone holder, but the flimsy plastic flip-out stand on the back broke off the first time it was used. The stand is MUCH TOO WEAK to serve the intended function.
