The ice maker in my refrigerator died a year ago, and I debated getting this machine because I didn't want to lose precious countertop space in my small kitchen. However, it does not require much space and it is wonderful to have ice again! It does start making ice in 7 minutes as advertised, but you have to wait around 15 minutes until you have enough for one drink. Around an hour later, the bucket will be full. At first, I questioned if it would make enough ice for our needs as the interior bucket doesn't look that big. However, it holds much more than it looks like it will. It is very easy to use. Just add water and hit the 'ice' button! The ice is a perfect size and creates iced beverages like you get at restaurants. Some points to know... It does take a hot minute to get it up and running. For example, you have to let it sit for an hour before you even plug it in to let the cooling gel inside settle. After wiping everything down, it's recommended you complete a cleaning cycle, which takes another 20 minutes. Though you can use tap water, the manufacturer recommends using distilled water so you don't have to clean it as often, so have some on hand. Last, I was hoping to make ice in big batches and store it in my freezer. Though you certainly can do that, the chips don't stay separated like when it is in the machine. It will freeze together in a big block that requires a good ice pick. Overall, it doesn't take up much space, makes ice for the entire family within the hour, and is easy to maintain! I've never had one of these before and wasn't sure what to expect. This one uses regular bottled water to fill the tank for freezing. We looked at others that had a permanent water line fed into them and that seemed like too much work to set up. This has a way to fill up the tank thru either the top or the front. I'm not sure why there are both, but I'm guessing it's just for access convenience. The ice it produces is about the half size of regular dice. So they are small, but they are great. I think I now prefer smaller cubes to the larger ones. The ice sits in a bottom reservoir and it comes with a plastic scoop to retreive the ice you want. If you have a group of people over wanting use the ice it'd be best to have extra bottles of water nearby to be filling up the try. That's because it will create the ice fairly quickly, within a matter of about 7 minutes, but you'll notice that you'll go thru it quick though. The ice does not remain ice in there. It keeps the ice cold, but not to a freezer level. So after a few hours the ice melts. I wasn't sure where it went at firs, but it found out that it does recycle the melted ice and remakes it into ice again. That's pretty cool to me. My only issue is the website for this product. It seems to be just a distributor website. There really isn't too much in detail about the product except for the same type of advertising that's on the Amazon site. There is also a warranty registration card that you can get online to fill out, but our product serial number wan't listed so it wouldn't let us do it. For questions, they have a gmail address, but contact with the company is not directrly thru the site. Only that provided email address. The product itself gets a 5 stars. The customer support and web page and uncertainty about it as coming from a certain company or just distributed thru this company name made me take off one star. I just don't know if I have anyone to contact for assistance if I have any issues with it, beyond using that persons email address. ... show more

Very disappointed esp for the cost! This thing is super loud and very annoying. We’ve only had it a week if that and even our company has asked what that noise is?! Don’t recommend at all.

This review is for the Maksone Nugget Ice Maker Countertop,44lbs/Day,Self-Cleaning ice machine with pebble ice, One-Click Operation, for Home/Kitchen/Office. In the wee early morning hours as I am writing this the temperature at my desk is 92 degrees Fahrenheit. Fresh ice from the Maksone is a most welcome respite! Tonight's beverage is a mai tai, and I must say the Maksone ice is the best ice I've found for most tiki drinks. There is no need to get out the Lewis bag and scare the downstairs neighbors. At 26 pounds the Maksone ice maker is about at the limit of what I can carry, but I did manage to get it set up on the kitchen counter by myself. I must mention the Maksone is attractive. The blue lighting may be turned on or off. No access is necessary from the top, which helps for placing the unit under kitchen cabinets. I used filtered water and ran about a liter of water's worth of ice through the mechanism to clear out any contamination before taking the ice for my drink. The speed of ice making is as I expected, well more than fast enough for my humble needs, The quality of the ice is excellent. I love the size and texture. The only thing I don't like about the Maksone is that it is recommended it be thoroughly cleaned out once a month -- or sooner if you don't use distilled or filtered water. Cleaning requires lugging the unit to the sink and removing the drain plug on the bottom. I am not looking forward to this. Nonetheless five stars for the quality of the ice and for the attractiveness of the machine. Recommended. ... show more
