    • Strong, padded magnets, finnicky installation

The magnets themselves hold very strongly if given a good surface. The padding seems appropriate to help prevent paint scuffing. I found it was difficult to find a mounting position that was sufficiently magnetic to actual retain both of them. In newer vehicles with lots of plastic, alloys and contours you may have trouble (like i did) with finding a good flat surface for the magnets to hold. The contoured surfaces on the hood and roof of my ride did not seem to provide adequate surface area for the magnets. The light bar was machined aluminum and would not bend very much to help the magnets conform to these curved surfaces. The light bar i tried was easily attached to the magnetic bases and everything seemed to be fully functional so i would still rate this product 5 stars. I think there are some cars that these things would easily mount to. That said this product likely won't work for many cars because of the geometry issues. ... show more

Great design and the magnets are very strong! Love the idea of using these for removable off road lights so you can reposition them or take them off easily. Everything actually looks really sharp with these and they even included bits to protect the paint. Very nice!

Strong magnetic bases and stainless hardware, the kit looks pretty good for my needs, mounting a pair of door lights on my wagon without drilling holes in the roof.
