I recently purchased the Bodno Magicard Pronto ID Card Printer and supplies package, and at first I was having some trouble getting it to print correctly. I called the customer service line and was helped by Angelo, and honestly he made the whole experience so much easier. He logged in remotely, walked me through every step, fixed all the issues, and stayed with me until I was able to print two perfect proofs. He even took the time to go over the software with me so I could feel confident using it on my own. I truly appreciate his patience and knowledge. I was assigned the task of updating our employee identification badges for a business with under fifty employees. We had been using Microsoft Word, scissors, and glue, so you can imagine the results. The set up was easy enough, though I found designing a badge with the included software to be less intuitive than other editing programs. However, I was pleased to see that my first sample printed the first time I pressed the button, with no extra troubleshooting required. This was a major plus for this badge printer! A graphic designer, I am not, so after my first attempts of impressing my manager failed, I hired one, and found a winning combination. I was able to use the file in the software with no problem, and just added a box for photo and name to change as we get new employees. They look very professional, and now that I have a good template, printing is a breeze and very fast. One tip... use a lint-free cloth or wipe on the PVC badge before printing to remove any dust or prints, then hold them by the edges while inserting. Otherwise, there could be some (minor) flecks on the printed product. Printing two sides has to be done manually, but is not difficult. When the first side is finished, flip it over, open the appropriate file, and print. Voila, a two-sided badge. I've printed approximately 10 test badges and 40 employee ID badges so far without any problems.

It's garbage. Utter trash. I'll take it by category: Print quality: Leaves much to be desired. Photos are not crisp. Color registration on fine details is way off, leaving a magenta ghosting effect on nearly everything, even after repeated cleaning of the rollers and replacement of the ribbon. Ease of use - Software: The Bodno software license key randomly disconnects, so your license to the software shuts off mid-use. The only way to restore the full version is to reset the key in the preferences, and then restart the software. From that point you have about 2 minutes to finish and print your project before it happens again. It was so cumbersome that I stopped using the software and started printing straight from Acrobat. Ease of use - Printer: The printer loses connectivity and has to be unplugged and replugged after each print job. The obvious solution would be to send multiple pages at once, but THE PRINTER WILL WITHOUT FAIL JAM EVERY OTHER CARD YOU PRINT. The red light will come on. You will have to open the printer, waste an entire card's worth of ribbon, and awkwardly remove the jammed card. This will happen regardless of how thoroughly you clean the rollers after each use. You WILL waste 3-4x as many cards as you successfully print. Plan accordingly. And of course the ribbons aren't cheap either. So although this kit says it comes with enough materials to get 100 badges, you will end up with 30-35 or so usable ones, if you're lucky. I regret everything about this purchase. Do yourself a favor and spend a few more bucks.

I bought a refurb'd printer on eBay, didn't work -- had to go through the return process and ship back a big ol' printer. I'm a System Administrator and Programmer, so I am coming at this from a tech's perspective. The installation of the printer drivers was seamless -- they even have a label over the USB port indicating the drivers need to be installed BEFORE connecting the printer...I appreciate this, from a sysadmin's perspective, beyond words. The ribbon installed without issue. The PVC cards are clean and flawless. I installed the included software and took a look around -- for someone who isn't keen on design or doing what they need to do @ barcodes, etc., the software would definitely be more than enough for any novice or non-techy. We're using these for in-house cards and handle the printing with our own systems and every single portion of the printing has been *as expected* or better. The included driver settings @ color correction, security/holo layers, clear-coating, etc. are beyond expectation -- I really appreciate the level of detail and options available with our printer. This printer is a single-card printer, so if you're looking for a "plop 100 cards in and walk away" printer, that would be the only thing to be aware of. Other than that, every portion of this purchase was clean, perfect, and ongoing maintenance @ ink and cards, is crystal clear. I would highly recommend this printer to anyone in need of printing PVC cards, whether it be for IDs, loyalty cards, etc.

Purchased the printer (second one, had worn out one already, well used!) and had issues installing the software because of older system. Contacted support and Byron had me up and running in less than 5 minutes. Good printer, good company, good support staff!
