  • Great out of the box.
These decks are great to play against each other and also against precons from other sets as they have a similar level of play. They will be a bit weaker than custom/competitive decks but there are a lot of great cheap cards you can use to upgrade them.

  • Great set of 2 decks
I've been a fan of MTG and LOTR since I was a kid, and I absolutely love these decks. The deck strategy is unique, as it adds the use of food tokens. I'm no expert, but I've never seen that before in MTG. It fits well with the LOTR theme of the decks though. One deck is based on Gondor, and the other is based on Mordor so they're perfect to fight each other. Plenty of memorable characters from the books and movies. If you're into MTG you'll love these. They're great for beginners too. ... show more

  • First Magic Product, I'm hooked!
Always been a fan of TCGs and LOTR. Magic is very beginner friendly especially with their starter kits. 1 month later and I have purchase 3 more starter kits and the Game night bundle.

  • A surprisingly good showing for LOTR going forward
Regarding the main package: The package arrived undamaged (though had some light soil for some reason but none of it stuck around). Two decks are included (I will review them later here but TLDR they both look rather playable for beginners but I wouldn't raid the closest tournament with them just yet) as well two identical boxes, and two different codes for online redemption (located at the backs of the decks). Regarding Hobbits (a review of the Green/White deck): So I was under the impression that this was going to be the Elven deck when I first ordered it but, with the heavy inclusion of Hobbits and food generating tokens, I believe now that this might be the Hobbit deck though with only Frodo rather than the Samwise/Frodo and Pippin/Mary pairs. If you were hoping that getting this pair would get you the duel 100-Card commander Hobbit deck then, unfortunately, this is not it my friends and without Bilbo Baggins, the ramping health gains will not have the pay off the 100-Card commander deck boasts. However, this is still a nice 60-Card deck to play with the other included deck, Armies of Mordor. Edit: Turns out the food ramping with this deck is not geared towards *Health* increase, but *Toughness* increase and it WORKS. After some testing I can comfidently say that Sauron has NOTHING on Second Breakfast. A View of Dark Tidings (a review of the black/red deck): The Armies of Mordor deck is definitely worth the pack and will certainly stand well compared to the Hobbit counterpart. However it might confuse new comers to the game due to the amass ability that is so prevalent in this deck. If you *do* happen to be as clueless about this mechanic as I was before I looked it up, here's the basics: If you don't have an army token, now you do and it gains a boost depending on the card that summoned it. If you already do, great, now it's even tougher and you're that much closer to bashing your opponent into wicked fertilizer. Pair this ability with the damaging spells, lands and creature abilities and you'll be making your opponents wish they had some Hobbit food to keep thier hopes of winning going. Other cards, such as Gollum, Scheming Guide and Witch-king, Bringer of Ruin, punish your opponent with every attack by removing creatures, dealing damage or giving you a chance to draw more cards offering good control options as well. TLDR: I'd recommend getting the Hobbit commander deck if you really want the food token exploits but Sauron stands strong on his own. Would recommend especially for the low price as of this review. ... show more

  • Box damaged, card great.
As many people have said, the big box was damaged. It's doesn't matter to me cuz i'm not a collector, but if you are, this is not the seller for you.
