  • Nice and simple. Good sound

Works perfect for my needs

  • The M-Audio M-Track Duo USB Audio Interface is exactly what I searched for at a good price.
Size: with 2 Mic Inputs Style: Interface only
The M-Audio M-Track Duo USB Audio Interface fit my needs perfectly. I searched for awhile, fretting between this dual channel model and the FocusRite Scarlett solo channel, which cost around $30 more. I'm relatively new to recording and editing music, also learning the open-source free software from Audacity (not provided by M-Audio) at the same time. This M-Audio pairs up with a self-designed and built lapsteel guitar that runs through a bunch of mid-priced pedals. The signal exits a DI (direct in) box via XLR cable and then pumps into a 2000's 175 watt JBL pro stage monitor/amp (15 in woofer, ported midrange and a peaky tweeter when up close; found two at Goodwill)) that is monitored by the The M-Audio M-Track Duo USB Audio Interface. My laptop and the Audacity software handle the processing, recording and editing chores. The signal (all quiet and clean throughout the whole hardware/software interface) is returned to the JBL (the amp has two 1/4 inputs and one each XLR in and out) in a loving manner with great sound. In fact, I can run my Beat Buddy Mini 2 drum pedal directly through it on a separate channel OR record it in the mix. Between the pre-amped DI box, the Crystal pre-amp in the The M-Audio M-Track Duo USB Audio Interface, and the JBL amp, there is plenty of power for sound! I've also used it to successfully pull backing tracks from online sources. I'm stoked! The slightly less fantastic: As others have noted, the input channel pots do not have a well-designed linear taper, so the signal is almost all or none (mine mostly sits at the 9 to 9.5 point) so clipping is hard to avoid. Add in the worn-out pots in the JBL (will replace shortly) with high power and I'm just a bit frustrated. So far I'm able to compensate in editing. Ease-of-setup, near-perfect interface with Audacity and Windows 11, low-noise high-performance output and a budget-friendly price have really set the The M-Audio M-Track Duo USB Audio Interface in a class by itself! Note: I do not play professionally, gig, or leave the house with this so I can't attest to its durability or suitability for rough situations. ... show more

  • Great intro Audio Interface
Size: with 1 Mic Input Style: Interface only
For 40 USD, this is a great device for a mobile or beginner set up. The input for the microphone and guitar input are crystal clear and simple to use. The output is decent, although there is a slight hissing noise when no audio is played (although this isn't able to be heard if you are playing music at any level). Overall this device is easy to use and setup, only requiring a single usb and driver download. ... show more

  • After 1 year, very happy with the purchase
Size: with 2 Mic Inputs Style: Interface only
I got the M Track Duo 1 year ago and use it constantly, 4 times a week or more. I use it with an AT2032 mic for the occasional podcast, regular YouTube videos and with my guitar, bass and vocals when recording my own music. It's held up super well for all these purposes. I don't have any issues with it. No unwanted noise or connection issues. The only complaint I have with the unit is it is super light and cheap feeling. And I get that's gonna be a consequence of purchasing a cheap unit so hard to complain about not having a sturdy metal housing. Just don't drop it onto a hardwood floor and you should be fine. I can definitely recommend this interface if you want something cheap but still has great sound quality. ... show more

  • Choose digital device to avoid noise.
Size: with 2 Mic Inputs Style: Interface only
I had been using this as an analog audio device connected via USB to a Linux machine. I noticed a subtle noise coming from my JBL studio monitors, when the volume was turned up and no sound playing. Changing the sound output to "Digital Output (S/PDIF) - PCM2900C Audio CODEC" in the Sound tab of settings in Gnome eliminated the noise. This interface has served me well. Unless I've missed it, there doesn't seem to be a way to keep XLR mic input out of the devices output, though. That would be a nice feature. Sometimes I just want that XLR input to be a separate device, so to speak. But I must admit that my experience with audio interfaces is limited. It's possible that option is there, and I haven't figured it out yet. ... show more

  • Digital recording for a FAIR price
Size: with 2 Mic Inputs Style: Interface only
The unit works well to digitize the sound which can be limited by Do-It-Yourself recorders such as phone, computer inputs or MICS. I tried so many things before jumping in to record correctly with appropriate hardware. OLD school items such as phones, or even high dollars MICs with plug-ins are not worthy of publishable recordings since the clipping is eliminated by forcing software limits on input (without your desire, as most items do this as a precautionary measure - to NOT ruin the PC, sound card, guts of the equipment, etc... The M-Audio, as well others, was researched and matched quite well with the higher priced items. It also had equal HZ ratings as some that were 5X the cost. I used this specific piece of equipment to record 20 songs for copyright with very good clarity and response. The CONS - the clipping adjustment is peaked at 9 or 10, which keeps you hopping on sound adjustments for various inputs (singing vs. instrument). It is a SOLO output regardless the hookups, which means, all SOUND (even if singing and playing two instruments) is blended to ONE OUTPUT (which is the input to DAW/Software). The drivers, which are FREE to download as well the software does NOT work on older PCs. I have an i5 rockin' PC that runs like a race horse, BUT will not run this stuff. So, even though the compliance online stated various modern WIN Platforms included, it will not on WIN 7 Home Premium. The FREE software will not either. However, it is running, and did run successfully on my Win 10 computer system. Generically speaking - it worked, and worked well! ... show more

  • Decent product, but it didn't last a long time and it doesn't have a MUTE
Size: with 2 Mic Inputs Style: Interface only
This product worked great while it was working, but it started have connectivity problems and would cause feedback in my headphones. I also didn't like that there wasn't a mute option. They're are several audio interfaces that are on the market, that are comparable in price and offer a lot more features and will surely last you longer. I would suggest going with a better interface if your budget allows. ... show more
