  • Very Big and Hefty
Size: Standard
I don't like desk scissor booms much. On my old setup I mounted one to my wall so I could avoid sounds transferring through my desk but they get weak the further out the mechanism is stretched out. Naturally a floor boom was a good answer. Problemo was that it needed to reach past its own feet, a computer on the floor and halfway to my desk which is alot further than most floor booms would manage. Saw a few of these heavy duty booms which seem perfect. This thing is no joke this is meant for like professional studio where it can go really high up, everything is super thick and rigid. For my set up since its not going to the moon I didnt really need to open the legs very much. Its off to the side and kinda comes just below the monitors so the mic and arm is not obstructing my view. Does this no problem, you can get it in exactly the position you want it and it aint moving after you crank everything down. It was a little bit pricey of a solution but can easily use it for anything else like if I end up getting a real set of drums or getting down to record acoustic guitar. Piñata for birthday parties even lol. ... show more

  • I love this thing!
Size: Standard
after struggling with microphone stands that clamp onto the desktop or table, I realized I need a real boom microphone stand. this stand comes ready to use right out of the box. it is large, very stable, and LONG. it get the microphone exactly where I want it in front of my mouth. I can sit up straight while zooming or recording because the mic is at the perfect height for me. the knobs and levers are all very sturdy and work very well. and the counterweight perfectly balances my heavy mic. this thing is big, so you won't be able to hide it easily if you wanted to. i'll probably get a second one for another computer, camera, microphone setup. ... show more

  • 3 years in filming audio recordings no regrets in buying it
Size: Standard
What can I say it holds our mic very well and feels durable - but light enough to carry around. Only criticism I have is that the main hinge lever is a 12 point rather than a 6 point socket so it wore out from regular use but thankfully not the nut underneath.

  • Strong and very cost efficient.
Size: Standard
This inexpensive large-sized microphone boom is impressive. Unlike the experience of some of the other reviewers, mine arrived in perfect condition, well-packaged and ready to set up. The unit is extremely easy to set up and feels very sturdy. The knobs and screws were of sufficient quality, although I would not want to over-tighten them. No stripping. The appropriate adapter for the U.S. microphone connection was included and already mounted on the boom. In short, this unit will fulfill my needs for the near future, at a relative low price point. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Great for the Price
Size: Standard
I bought this for drum overheads, because the height and reach are impressive. I was very hesitant to go with this stand over well-known stands in the $100-250 range, but the reviews were enticing. I'm reviewing precisely because of my hesitance. Overall, I think it's a 4-star purchase, but a 5-star "for the money." I didn't experience any problems with shipping (as others have mentioned), so I think they've responded to those complaints. I was pleasantly surprised with how well it was shipped. Zero complaints here. Pros: -tall stand/long boom -heavy/stout/stable -variable footprint size (you can choose how stable you need it to be vs. how small of a footprint you want, which I appreciate around a drum kit) Cons: -The boom isn't very stout. I pretty much don't use the inside telescoping portion at all, due to the amount it bends with a decent-sized mic on it. It might work with an SDC or something small like that, but I use LDCs and ribbons. This isn't a huge issue to me, since the outer portion is still relatively long. -The metal-on-metal friction of the boom angle adjustment didn't quite cut it for me. If you pile on additional counterweights (I use 1" barbell plates) to achieve balance, the boom will really start to bend. You're caught between a rock and a hard place. My solution to this was to buy rubber washers of the same size, replace the inner washer with one (you'll see), and then Gorilla glue another one to the outer washer. Seems to be a vast improvement. Now I can rely on more than sheer balance. If you're hesitant like I was, just go for it. It's a great stand, and I virtually guarantee that you won't find anything better in the price range. If I need more stands that fit this bill, I won't bother shopping around. ... show more

  • Heavy Duty!
Size: Standard
I was a little unsure about this -- mic stands are not very expensive but boom stands all seem to be $100 or more. I was surprised by the size of the box when it showed up. I opened it up and it was HUGE. The main upright is thick and sturdy, as are the parts for the tripod, it is bottom heavy so it is very stable. When fully extended the reach is amazing. I think it is sturdy enough to mount several things at once (say a mic, some lightweight LED lights, and a mirrorless camera) as long as you don't extend it to far. I will probably slap a go-pro on it and use it for overhead shots and shots from high up -- to give the birds eye view without a drone. You could probably slap a go pro on this and extend it straight up and gets a birds eye view of something like a basketball going into the hoop. I have only had it for a day and I have not actually used it yet -- I will update the review if it is not durable. ... show more

  • Excellent mic stand for the price!
Size: with Caster Wheels
I bought this to hold an $800 mic from several feet away. It does this easily and with no slow-drooping of the boom arm like some other stands tend to do. I would have no problem putting any mic (expensive or not) on this boom arm. It's much more substantial than my other tripod stands, and I trust it'll last decades in my home studio. Since I almost never move it, I can't speak to its reliability for someone who constantly puts it up and tears it down (e.g. touring acts). However, so far, after 6 weeks, I'm impressed! One side note: Like other reviews have stated, the shipping box usually (always?) arrives with a hole through one end where a support column has busted through during shipping. It seems like the manufacturer could remedy this issue with a little extra packing at that point. My box arrived with the hole, but no damage to the support column. ... show more
