Ordered two of the 8" not expecting much and that's what I got. Gigging musician for years. Looking small practice speakers so ordered these. Kinda figured they'd be cheap cause they're cheap. So, ordered new 8" speakers at the same time and I'm glad I did! The original drivers/speakers sounded really muddy and no matter how I EQd them or tried different amps, I couldn't get them clear. So dropped in a set of slim timpano 4 ohm speakers and it was day and night difference. Quality wise? The cabs are made out of what seems like cheap plastic, not the durable plastic of behringer or yamaha, but plastic that feels fragile, time will tell. The compression driver/horn is unlabeled as were the speakers, no surprise there. The horn is a small 1" threaded, so I guess it's possible to also swap out something better if it's small, (not much horn room). The crossover looks very cheaply made and I'll probably build another at some point. But lets be honest, for a $60 speaker it's not bad. I bought it for the cab and the multi capable input choice, speakon, XLR and 1/4". With the different speakers in it, the sound is quite good even if the crossover is now wrong for the current configuration. If I use this for small gigs I could see using an active crossover like the behringer and running one 12" or 15" sub. ... show more

The speaker is lightweight and sound quality is as good as you can expect from a low cost speaker. For the venue I ordered the speaker for it is acceptable.

Know what you're buying & what you need. This Passive speaker WILL NOT work with their (LyxPro) Active speakers. LyxPro has a "Mix Out" XLR which DOES NOT power a Passive speaker. Other brands have a "Speaker 8ohm" out.... this WILL power a Passive speaker. So only buy these Passive speakers if you're using an external amplifier. If you want to use multiple of these to "daisy chain" together, then you need ALL actives or all Passive. Other brands you can buy 1 powered & 1 passive for a set.... but not LyxPro. LyxPro brand does sound really good and i do recommend them, just make sure you get the right ones you need! ... show more

I like the lightweight and compactness if the speakers, sound quality is good, wish they had just a tad more on the bottom frequencies but I didn't have high expectations of. an 8" woofer, paired with a good subwoofer, the speakers can handle a small to mid-sized gig. I needed a passive monitor speaker for our AV room at church and didn’t want to spend a lot so I thought I would give it a try. I’m very satisfied with the quality of this speaker it has a nice reproduction of sound with no distortion. Nice value for the money.
