My child has an average size head so I ordered true to their size. It fits a littler large as expected, but he is only 4M and I ordered a size 6m-12m. The fleece is thin, so do not expect a thicker material. Some kids sweat in fleece so if you have one of those kids this is perfect for you. I find it does the job as I do usually put him in his snow suit in the winter anyway and I wanted something to use now in the fall through the winter in combo with a hood. Based on the reviews, I ordered larger than needed. My one year old has a head circumference of 47 1/2cm. I ordered a 3t to make sure it would fit. The head part fits great but the strap is very low. Just a regular fleece hat that is nice to have to wear as a second layer. However it is way too big for my 88 percentile 4 months old baby. It covers her eyes, and the chin straps dont attach or stay in the right place either. Very odd design. Super cute and works well! My daughter’s head is in the 48th percentile, and we ordered a size up. Follow the advice of the reviewers! If your kid has a larger head, definitely go up a size or two.

My baby is 8 months old and I have the small hat. Head circumference is 42cm. The hat is huge. It fits alright, but it doesn't stay in place because the strap is very loose. If the velcro soft side was longer, the hat would fit fine. A crafter could probably fix this hat. Mittens are OK, but not very warm.
