I built a nice-sized desktop CNC machine last year but I was using some lousy holders that I got with an older CNC that had since died, and wanted to try out these ones for the pivot feature. These are really nice and perfect for my needs. I did swap the bolt out for a 1/4-20 version to fit my existing set-up, and that took all of a minute to do and didn't affect the way that the hold-downs worked at all. The spring and the pivot were such a massive improvement over the plastic ones I was using before, with no slippage at all like I was having with the other ones. The pivot feature is also great because it makes clamping down materials of different thicknesses even easier. Actually was pretty impressed with these clamps. The pivot point is a smart feature that I haven't seen before on more expensive clamps, and they have multiple positions for taller objects. Also swaps out easily to 1/4-20" hardware for US T-Track extrusion, if you have the hardware.

I ordered the clamps anyway as I have lots of other equipment that uses t-tracks. And while they will work on anything that uses a track system, I purposely got them for my drill press table. These clamps use M6 x 1.0mm thread and t-nuts to hold the clamp to the work surface. The pivot points are adjustable, and they have a spring-loaded mechanism to assist when releasing the pressure on the clamp. I like the springs, and I don’t have springs on my other clamps but will probably add them after using these clamps. Note: The washer that is supplied between the spring and the clamp base is very small and jams easily. I recommend changing the washer under the clamp to a little larger size so that it doesn’t get “tangled up” with the spring (see picture) One important consideration for these clamps is that universal t-track are 3/4" wide x 3 /8" high (see picture). This clamp will NOT fit in that track as is. The in-track piece is a little bit too tall to go inside the track. The easy solution is to replace the slide piece with a smaller slide or a nut that will fit the T-track(s) that you have. The nuts that generally fit are 12mm (~7/16. OR you could just get some hold down clamps that fit a standard track system ;-) To summarize, for my purposes these worked fine in conjunction with other hold down clamps I have. I ordered these to replace the very minimal hold downs that came with my CNC machine. Because my CNC does not have T-Track installed, but instead a series of threaded holes for hold downs, I had to make a very slight modification to the hold downs which involved just removing the T-Track nuts attached to the bolts. Fortunately the bolts fit the threaded holes in my CNC base plate so they work fine for my needs and so much better than the original hold downs. When I'm able to switch jobs without needing to move the hold downs they are very quick and easy to setup. If I have to move the hold downs between jobs they are bit fiddly to work with because I have keep the spring compressed while I attempt to screw the bolts into a new location with different base plate holes. I think the clamps are well made and have strong holding power and are perfect form my needs. I also ordered some T-Track nuts that fit the T-Track on my other machines and couple work tables so that I can use these hold downs there too. These are designed to work with T track that a 1/4-20 bolt will side into, not the larger 3/4" T track a miter gauge works with. I picked them because they don't have a long threaded rod that sticks up for the router to hit. That does limit the thickness of the board they can hold down but I would rather work around that than deal with possibly hitting the threaded rod with an expensive bit. When I built the table for my CNC I specifically put in plenty of T tracks to make holding down work easy. I have several different styles for multiple situations. Yet these style clamps tend to be my go to hold down devices. These clamps work very well. It's easy to tighten the knob and get plenty of hold down force. The design makes the knob sit much lower than other designs so retract height isn't an issue. If needed the threaded rod can be replaced with a longer one and a piece of scrap wood can be placed under the other end so it can clamp something thicker if needed. ... show more
