My husband and I have been looking for pellets that give a good smokey flavor don't leave too much sawdust behind and just burn great! These have been wonderful and I am so glad we found them! Will be ordering these again and excited to try new ones.

    • The jury's still out if this is "better" than Traeger pellets
I originally had started out using Traeger pellets in my Traeger smoker, reasonably happy with them but not entirely happy at the amount of smoke flavor they provided me. I read in a few reviews and posts about using Lumberjack brand pellets instead, citing that you get more smoke and more flavor than the Traeger brand pellets. After using them for a few months, I'm not entirely convinced that they're head and shoulders above Traeger pellets, and to compound my evaluation, they're not widely available and come at a slightly steeper price depending on who you're buying them from. I had also witnessed SEVERE price gouging at times from some of the sellers. At one point, I saw someone selling SINGLE 20-pound bags of 100% pure hickory for $40+ and sold in pairs for over $85-90+ for 40 pounds of pellets. Typically 40-pounds of pellets should run you around $40. I think Lumberjack is alright — they work fine as a substitute for Traeger pellets and have not had any issues with them in my Traeger smoker. Do they warrant a 5-star review? Nah. Four stars is plenty — they do provide an adequate amount of smoke flavor, but not head and shoulders above Traeger. Additionally, it's typically more expensive than Traeger and availability has been sporadic on bags of the pure hickory, and instead seeing bags of hickory blends. I'll still buy Lumberjack, but I'm not enamored by them and am still on the lookout for an even better smoke flavor and less expensive price point. ... show more
