I had seen one of these a few years ago and been fascinated by it at the time, but hadn't put off buying one because it wasn't something I needed. However, I have really been enjoying experimenting with new instruments and sound recently, and decided it was time to try one of these for myself. I love it. I am considering returning this tongue drum–but only so that I can get the larger one which will have more all the notes in an octave. I can't recommend this more highly. Lots of fun and easy to learn. The only problem I had was trying to read the attached song list. I didn't understand the notation system used, but was able to pretty much figure it out based on the songs that I knew which are in the little booklet. ... show more

This is such a beautiful-sounding instrument. We got it for my young daughter so she could enjoy making music that we actually will enjoy hearing. And it's great! She loves tinkering around with it and it's still pleasant to listen to. But a big warning--if you're giving this to small children, make sure you pull off the rubber balls on the mallet and reglue them properly.
