  • Nice but missing wrench
This drum is nice enough for the money, but it was missing the tuning wrench.

  • Shocking quality in miniature size
This drum (can it really be called a conga at this size? let's just stick to drum...) is a real instrument. The construction of the shell and the quality of the head, hoop and tensioners all indicate that this is not a toy -- it's meant to be played. But you should know that this a very small drum -- the head diameter is about 3 1/2". So it can't really be played like a conga, especially in terms of getting any kind of a bass note with the palm of your hand (the palm of your hand practically covers the entire head). But for what it is, it sounds great. As a finger drum, it sounds more like something from South Asia than from South or Central America. Very nice ring tone. I like this drum a lot, but mostly just to fool around with. I can't imagine it being very useful as an accompaniment to anything other than maybe a single acoustic guitar, and I can't really imagine it being part of a larger percussion ensemble. But as a "apartment drum", it's great! ... show more

  • Nice product. Super small. More of a decorative design.
Was a nice product. Kid size. Small!

  • Fun Drum
Is a small conga drum. While I like the drum well enough, I am dissatisfied with the lack of size criteria presented in the sales display. It is a good sounding accessory drum you can carry under your arm. It will be fun on the beach this semester. Update: This little drum was a favorite with my friends sitting around a bonfire at Mad River beach here in Arcata, California this summer. I was able to play my bass guitar accompanying a friend and could allow some attractive woman to keep time with the conga. There is no bad way to play this drum, even howling into the open end is fun. Enjoy life and get this drum. ... show more

  • nice sound but small playing surface
For a very little drum is has a decent sound. The key thing to remember it is very little. I bought this as part of a set to bring with me to acoustic jam sessions with friends and to give to other folks there so they had something to do while the rest of us were playing. Nice tone, very light - but again - it does have a small playing surface. You don't get the full range you'd get on a regular conga. As I bought it as a drum for guests and/or non band members to play, I can't complain. Just remember it isn't a replacement or one of the smaller drums with the full range of playability. On the other hand, it does make for a cool decorative object in my music room. ... show more

  • Not a toy
If you're looking for a toy drum that makes a lot of noise, this is not it. However it is built pretty close to the high standards of my other LP drums, plus it has the feel of the others. I use it to play while sitting in my lounge chair. I find it perfect for practicing finger beats, and my speed has increased dramatically. An additional plus, is because of relatively low volume, I don't bother others. The head is not large enough to do a hand heal/finger beat, but I wanted something small, and I like it a lot ... show more
