It is narrowly placed around the shell and enhances the overall conga sound. Conga Saver The patented Conga Saver is truly a MEINL innovation. Available in 8 mm and 10 mm versions, they are placed over the conga lugs to prevent them from damaging and scratching the shell while the conga remains fully tunable. Conga Heads MEINL True Skin Buffalo Heads are without a doubt the perfect choice for both wood and fi berglass congas due to their structure, thickness, and sonic characteristics. True Skin hides are selected by specialists. After the selection process, each skin is gently tanned using a special MEINL procedure and then mounted by hand to become a first class True Skin Head. • Great drum but not what I ordered
I ordered what I thought was the original model. It was pictured as the original. When I opened the box, I noticed I had been sent the anniversary model with the silver badge and not the black badge. Small thing; I know. But it looks out of place with my other drums that have the original black badge. • Very Happy With My New Conga
Although I am not a professional player, the deep rich tones emitted by this drum make me sound as if I am. I was looking for a drum that was of a good quality but that would not set me back financially too much. I think I found the perfect combination with the Luis Conte Series. Good sound, great look, reasonable price. I am very happy with the product and would absolutely recommend it. ... show more

  • Best kept secret in the mass builder conga market
These drums, the shell, hardware, skin, and shape deliver at levels expected from instruments at twice the price. I have a tumba and segundo, and will add a 3rd, 4th, maybe up to 6 or 7; they are that inexpensive for the value received.

  • Excellent Conga!
The Luis Conte Signature conga is by far the best value of any conga on the market today. With traditional Cuban rims and styling and natural skins they have the authentic sound of the islands. Only a high end hand made conga could sound a little better but why pay over a thousand dollars for one conga when these are so wonderful. Take it from someone who's been playing the conga for over 50 years. These are a tremendous value with a rich warm sound. ... show more
