  • Awesome Budget 7" fish finder
Style: 7 Tripleshot, C-map Us Inland Maps
For a budget depth finder with side imaging. This is an excellent unit. Very easy to use and set up. The image is very clear once you set it to a higher frequency. I purchased the TS unit and have had no issues so far. If you want Wi-Fi or an easy connection with a second unit for the front of your boat, You will need to purchase a higher-end depth/ fish finder. If you are looking for a rear depth finder. This one works great. The only thing I'm not a fan of is that the transponder is almost 11" long. It sticks way off the back of the boat. But hasn't been an issue so far. ... show more

  • Works very well
Style: HOOK Reveal X 5" Splitshot
The only issue I have with this fish finder is that I wish I would have gotten the 7 inch instead. Very user friendly and easy to set up. I liked it so well that I bought the 7 inch to install at my trolling motor. Works as good as my Humminbird and my Garmin on my other boat.

  • Perfect with one small upgrade
Style: 7 Tripleshot, C-map Us Inland Maps
For the record, I ordered the Hook Reveal 7 TripleShot that came with a transducer, and preloaded C-Map US Inland maps. Transducer: The Triple Shot transducer is large, and from reviews I've read on other sites - very fragile. Water pressure from aggressive turns can break the plastic at the mounting point. There is a supplier who makes a transducer saver, where you use 3M adhesive to fix the transducer to a metal plate, which then attaches to a more substantial bracket. I purchased that mount so I didn't have to worry about mine breaking. FYI, I used 3M 4200 fast cure marine adhesive, and it holds up just fine. Maps: What surprised me most was the detail that came with the preloaded C-Map US inland maps. These maps include points of interest, fishing spot info, contour lines, and notes / symbols for different types of structure such as weeds, rocks, or stumps. Having these maps, with the GPS function will be wonderful for lakes like Cumberland where even after years of boating on that lake - I still get turned around or head up the wrong cove. Screen: 7" screen is the perfect size in my opinion, and is easy to see from 10' away, with enough brightness to see in full sun. The button layout is user friendly, and menus are very easy to navigate. Function: Believe it or not, I've installed this on a 2004 Malibu Wakesetter, a direct drive boat. I'm breaking all the rules, starting with even fishing from a boat like this. "My boat, My rules" LOL. The transducer is mounted aft of the prop as there's really no other option. Everyone will tell you this is a big no no. My prop rotates CCW / Left-hand so I mounted the transducer on the port side of the boat, roughly 16" from center. The bottom of the transducer is perfectly in-line with the bottom of the boat, 4" below and 10" port of my exhaust tips. This should cause the unit to not work right? Too much prop wash and air bubbles from the exhaust right? I have no issues with image quality - they are unbelievable in my opinion, especially for the price point of this unit. My images are just as good at an idle speed as they are drifting in the wind with the motors off. I do lose my readings once I get up to about 25 MPH - but at that speed what you see on the screen is so far behind you it doesn't matter. I'm happy with this unit and would buy another if I could afford another boat. 6.14.23 update I'm sad to report I must remove 2 stars. Unit is on the fritz. After a year of working great, it now randomly reads a depth of 2' no matter what depth of water I'm in, with a lot of noise on the screen. When I power off, and back on - it starts to read properly for a short time, but ultimately stops. This issue has nothing to do with water quality, or my mounting methods as it's worked fine for almost a year. The problem I'm having now occurs when the fish finder is the only electronic item turned on in the boat, and I'm anchored sitting still. Not a hint of damage anywhere on the transducer, wiring, or head unit. I've contacted Lowrance, and hopefully I'll return some stars if they help me get this figured out. 10/17/23 update Lowrance customer service is; well, mamma said don't say anything if you don't have somethin nice to say. I figured out the problem myself. Best I can tell, it's a voltage issue. These units are very sensitive, and seem to have a tight tolerance for voltage. My batteries (2) still had plenty of power to start up my V8, but I replaced them due to their age of 5 years. After replacing my batteries, all my fish finder issues disappeared. I'm rating this unit at a 4.7 however, after having the chance to compare this unit to a Garmin unit in the same class. The Garmin now lives on my wakeboat, and the Lowrance unit went on my friends pontoon. Still a great unit, I just like the Garmin better. The Garmin seems to work just fine even when the battery voltage is 11.4 volts ( which it displays on the screen and even has a voltage alarm). ... show more

  • Great Feature Filled FishFinder
Style: HOOK Reveal 9" Tripleshot + US Inland
Out of the box this unit works great. It is easy to customize to your specific fishing conditions but really that is not needed, the auto default settings get the job done. The FishReveal feature that overlays the sonar onto the downscan is ingenious. You can see the fish arches at the same time you are viewing the structure they are hanging around. It came loaded with detailed lake maps, GPS, easy setting of waypoints and more. My favorite feature is your ability to set up custom pages combining sonar and downscan, or side view and a chart etc. The chart, sonar, down scan and sidescan are built in and also there but you can easily add five more custom pages. Finally, there are many free in depth online tutorials from real users, some on the water, for the setup, customization and getting most out of unit that make you proficient with the fishfinder before you even hit the water. I have had other fishfinders and was always frustrated with not seeing anything. The Lowrace Hook Reveal is amazing and a great deal for the price. ... show more

  • Inshore coastal maps, not included
Style: HOOK Reveal 9" Tripleshot + US Inland
This product includes the worst maps of inshore coastal regions of any Lowrance product I have owned. They are basically unusable. You are required to purchase additional maps for $250 just to have basic depth readings on a chart. Could not even get basic deapth forget getting contour lines or anything else without purchasing a map. My Black and white $200 fishfinder had better free maps then this thing. They purposely make the coastal maps so you’ll have to buy a set even if you want to see basic depth on a general chart. Frankly, I think this thing is way overpriced for what you get with it. Realistically, if you need Intercoastal maps add another 250 to the 750 your now spending and then ask is this thing really worth 1000 dollars. It doesn’t even have a tuch screen. I wish I had returned it before cutting holes in my boat to install it. Just feel like I got scammed. Why are the Free maps that came with my $200 Black-and-white Lant better Than the ones included with this product. Next time I’ll do more research and probably choose a different brand maybe hummingbird. ... show more

  • Love the fish reveal
Style: HOOK Reveal X 5" Splitshot
Had this now for a couple of months and have used it 4 or 5 times. Screen is easy to see, even in day time and the fish reveal is great. Fish are easy to identify, whether large or small. Arches make it easy to judge size of fish or schools of bait. Bottom contours stand out sharply and separation of objects on the bottom tells you fish or structure. The instruction that are in the package has a lot to be desired. Hard to get the unit into operation if this is all you have. I spent a lot of time on you tube watching guys getting theirs set up. You will probably have to do this also. ... show more

  • Screen flickering fix
Style: HOOK Reveal 9" Tripleshot + US Inland
The media could not be loaded. I was terribly disappointed when I first hooked this unit up to a battery to test it out. Turns out if you have any less then 12V supplying this, it will do this. I'm willing to bet all bad reviews on screen flicker is low voltage (11.50v in my case). I hooked it up to another fully charged battery and had no issues whatsoever, then I charged the battery I originally had it wired to and it worked without a hitch. ... show more
