My TCL TV is possibly older than dirt,. The original remote held up for a nice long time surviving multiple drops, spills, being thrown in the garbage, and who knows what else. What finally took it out? The batteries exploded... After fighting the Roku Remote app on smart phones I caved and bought this amazing new remote. This remote works right out of the box. All of the buttons work perfectly. I appreciate the sound not being on the side. Since I subscribe to Hulu, Disney, Prime and Netflix, this remote for me, does the job. I have officially retired my TCL remote. A very good price paid for exactly what I wanted.

I am finding that the buttons tend to stick (using it as my shield remote died). While I’m glad to have something that works, the functionality is a bit lacking. Sometimes I find that I have to extend my arm to point directly at the shield which I never had to do before. So far, so good. Easy to program and has all the functions of the original Shield Pro remote. I bought this as a back up for when the stock remote decides to go on vacation. This picks up the slack quite nicely. One programming note - if you use any launcher other than the stock Android one the Shield came with, you will have to disable it to pair this remote.
