Description

A more accurate way to measure toe to within 1/16" Adjustable up to 70" in width. Easily done by one person. See Part 79610 Tire Scribe. To get a very accurate toe measurement jack up front wheels and scribe a true running line on the face of the tire. Place the gauge in front of the tires and align the pointers with the scribe lines. Then move the gauge to the rear of the tires and align the fixed end with the scribe line. On the other end loosen the thumb screws and move the slider until the pointer aligns with the other scribe line. Now read the exact toe-in on the scale. Quick, easy, & accurate. A reminder¦ The scribed line can be anywhere on the tire face.

  • Toe adjusting tool....
Not many reviews...I used this toe adjustment tool a few times on different vehicles. The most important thing is to have a good reference on the tire for measuring. Basically, you set this gauge on each tire and move it to the opposite side (front to back of tire) and compare the difference. In my case the toe called for 0 for two cars it was used on. One car had toe out around 1/2 inch. I adjusted toe close to 0. So far that vehicle is tracking true and no excessive tire wear. (new tires) One review mentioned plastic tips. Obviously these tips are removed prior to use. They are protective in nature and can be left off. This method is much easier than the string method which I have tried. One small annoyance is when moving this gauge from front to back (or opposite direction) is it has to be tipped down carefully to clear low vehicles. You sort of have to work it down slowly so you do not bang the setting. Then drag is out from underneath. ... show more

  • Clumsy to use
Because the bar has no stands which would firmly plant in place it needs to be lifted off the ground to readjust the slider for the scale pointer side. When doing that I always have to go back to the other non scale side to readjust my tire pointer back on point. Really is a two person job to use, one on each side. Nowhere in the sealed box were the thumb screws that tighten the pointer slides to the bar. I emailed Longacre support asking to provide me some and never got a reply so used two hex head bolts. It does go out to 67and one half inches using the pointer gauge, that is it. I use a 1x1 2ft. long aluminum square between the two halves so it can be used on HD trucks giving me 85 inches measuring width after modification. ... show more

  • Think before you buy
I received this tool in a used, scratched condition while paying for new. It arrived well packed, so I did not open the package for 2 weeks or so. Overpriced. Its more of a qualitative rather than a semi-quantitative tool. Works better on front wheels as you can measure the number of threads on the tie-rods. Practically useless if rear wheel toe needs to be adjusted on both wheels at the same time, especially if bushing and/or bearing/hub work was done. Would not recommend it for a BMW. Cost wise- its overpriced. Just paid $170 for toe and camber to be done on the Hunter machine. ... show more

  • it does not go up to 70 inches as stated
I didn't like the spec's saying it would measure up to 70 inches, it does not, I had to move one side out to outside screw hole, had to move one scribe out further and drill hole for lock screw on side to the inside so it would work, the short measurement tape on one side wouldn't work with this modification, they need to put measurements on both sides, I did how ever make it work, but would not have purchased this toe bar if i had known it wouldn't work for 70 inches, I was in hurry to get my job done, and i also was working with the lower cost for the toe bar. this toe bar would work for passenger cars, light narrow pickups. ... show more

Works as advertised. The only thing that I wish they would change is the cheep rubber caps used for pointers. Then it would be 5 star.
