  • The long handle makes all the difference!
Recently, I've been seeing garden tools with screw-in sections to make the handle. When made properly it's really a game changer. And this is properly made. First, it can be packaged and mailed in a small package. And, of course, if for any reason you need to transport it in a car, you can simply reduce the length by half by unscrewing it in the middle. But mostly because that extra length means, at 5 '6" I don't have to bend my back at all to use it. The longer handle also allows you to reach deep into a planted area from the edge. I've used this not only to cultivate an area, but also drag out weeds and use it as a narrow rake to remove dirt clods on the surface of the soil. It's a great garden tool that's really easy on my 80 year old back! ... show more

  • A Fairly Sturdy Tool for Gardening Enthusiasts
In my quest for a reliable replacement for my garden weasel, which had a tendency to snap off tines when faced with rocks, I stumbled upon the BARAYSTUS Long Hand Cultivator. Crafted from robust steel and stainless materials, this 4-tooth hand tiller intrigued me with its promises of durability and efficiency. First and foremost, the build quality of this cultivator is impressive. Constructed from seriously hearty materials, it's clear that this tool is designed to endure heavy workloads around the yard. Unlike its cast metal counterparts, which are prone to breakage, the BARAYSTUS cultivator boasts a resilience that instills confidence during use. One of the standout features of this cultivator is its resistance to rusting. Thanks to its stainless steel components, it can withstand exposure to the elements without succumbing to corrosion. Additionally, the absence of wood in its construction eliminates the risk of splintering, ensuring longevity and safety. At the end of your garden efforts, it is nice to simply spray off your tools and walk away. The long handle of the BARAYSTUS cultivator is another highlight. Not only does it keep users off their knees, but it also provides the leverage needed to tackle gardening tasks with ease. However, while the seller claims that the handle is adjustable and extendable, it's worth noting that the handle's design may not live up to expectations. Rather than a telescoping handle, it features removable sections, which can be cumbersome to adjust and increase the risk of pieces getting lost. Furthermore, the presence of multiple sections on the handle creates weak points of contact, resulting in a slightly more flexible feel than desired. While this doesn't compromise the cultivator's performance significantly, it does add unnecessary complexity to its design and usage. Despite these minor drawbacks, I am pleased with the performance of the BARAYSTUS Long Hand Cultivator. Its sturdy construction and rust-resistant materials make it a valuable addition to any gardener's toolkit. Whether you're digging, loosening soil, or weeding, this cultivator gets the job done efficiently. While there are some areas where the BARAYSTUS cultivator could be improved, its overall performance and durability make it a worthwhile investment for gardening enthusiasts. With proper care and maintenance, it's sure to become a trusted companion in your gardening endeavors. ... show more

  • Nice design and well made.
This long-handled cultivator is well designed and super easy to put together. Would it be better to have a solid handle for this rather than the three-piece design? Of course. But whoever engineered this did it the right way. Each section of the handle is a steel tube with threads on the end that screw into the next section. The last tube end is obvious as it has a foam handle on one end. The difference in this design is that the treaded end is inserted into the other one going inside the matching tube an inch or so, and then threading in. This allows for a much more solid tool. It's like having a sleeve of metal above an over the threaded connection. I am using this for pulling out and moving rocks out of my lawn area. Just small ones but there are a lot. This will be my go-to tool to loosen up the rocks and then gather them. A solid tool and worth the price. 5-stars!! ... show more

  • I like it a lot but there are a few minor issues that don't affect my recommendation.
Describing this as telescopic is a bit of a misnomer. The length of the handle is done by changing the number of sections not telescoping it out. Thats OK though, no harm no foul. I found the overall construction to be quite robust. High grade tubular steel gave little bend if any at the full length. Briefly tried it out in my bushes rooting out some dead weeds and brush. Small size gave it some flexibility to get into tougher areas not accessible with a typical width garden rake. It combines the size of a hoe with the tines of a garden rake. Allows you to do some nice tilling in home gardens or weeding around the house planters or bushes. A minor issue, I would normally use this at full length but for longer term working, it would have been a nice feature to have the middle or upper section of tube with a rubber coating in the middle so you can have it at the end and there to use two hands without sliding. It can be accomplished with tape, but it would have been nice to have it integrated. A minor suggestion would be to have this come with two heads one a bit wider for more of a garden rake type of use. Still, this is a solid recommended for quality and function. ... show more

  • Surprisingly sturdy
I am not a particular fan of screw together handles for my gardening tools but this one isn't bad. Since it screws together it feels a bit more like a solid handle than the last "some assembly required" tool I tried that used bolts to hold the pieces together. The threads are plastic but seem pretty solid. I pulled on the handle with everything I had and it didn't give any indication of failure. The 4 teeth are very solid. I thought for sure they'd be easy to bend but unless you're using it as a pry bar they should last for a long time. I have no doubt they will handle any normal gardening needs. The only thing I like about the handle being several pieces is that you can easily add or subtract pieces to accommodate people of varying heights to make it more comfortable for each person to use. I honestly can't find a fault with this particular tool. ... show more
