I was very skeptical about this inexpensive Sputnik light . But , wow, I really love it . I had a fancy chandelier , but wanted to modernize my dining area . Unfortunately, I have an off center ceiling connection , and needed a fixture with a chain . This was one of the few available . And I’m so happy that it was . It s just what I had in mind . I did get extra chain on Amazon . Plus , I bought extra wire at Lowes ( $2.50)… There were a few glitches , hanging it ,but nothing dramatic .! Quality seems fine , and I bought the Brimax LED Edison 15pack 2700k bulbs on Amazon, as well ! So, if you are on a limited budget , you can still have lovely affordable lighting ! Luckily I had a wonderful friend , who did a perfect job installing it for me ! ... show more

    • Back to the Simple 50s (sort of)
We had an elaborate (and very heavy) glass chandelier over our dining area when we moved into our house. My wife and I both hated it, but it took us 3 years to find something we liked as a replacement. Originally, we saw a similar chandelier at IKEA, but it was not dimmable (very odd for a chandelier, in my mind) and the bulbs were some sort of proprietary LED. So, we looked on Amazon and found this. Aside from the simple look, it would use any standard bulb that had an Edison E26 base, which is what most bulbs have. What clinched it, though, was our particular chandelier location. Our dining room has a vaulted ceiling, about 12 feet high. All of the chandeliers we looked at were designed for an 8 foot ceiling and would have to be modified. Others we looked at were suspended by the cord itself. This could be replaced, but I was leery of replacing it with zip cord, which would look tacky. I wasn't sure if other cords would stand the weight. This chandelier is suspended by a chain, which could be replaced with a longer one. The cord only needed to be electrically safe, since it would not be under tensile stress. Amazon had just the solution to the short chain problem with their Woerfu light fixture chain, which I highly recommend. Not only did this provide the additional length we needed, but is supplied with a strong, easily removable link that you use on each end. Thus, you don't have to bend links with vice grips and pliers to adapt the chain to the upper suspension mount and the fixture itself. My only complaint is the assembly of the lights onto the central ball. It is simple in principle, but can be difficult in practice, since you have to thread a nut only the end of the tube that holds the light. There is an insulating sleeve that must be kept on the end of the tube that can be tricky as well. Now that it is mounted it is working fine and looks great. ... show more

    • I was sent a returned product?
I wanted to love this light. I was willing to put up with the lack of detailed instructions and 17348476 parts to assemble (as per the reviews left by others)... HOWEVER, the light I received must have been a returned light. One of the arms was bent. There was zero packaging. All of the pieces were thrown loose into a single clear bag. The hardware was open and pieces were missing. VERY disappointing. I'm sure this would've been a great light if it were new and complete. :( ... show more

A bit difficult to assemble as the directions aren’t too clear and the screws are difficult to reach with adult fingers. But otherwise it’s a very nice light fixture!

Easy to put together. Does come fully disassembled and must wire each arm to the main wire. Simple enough! Looks great with edison bulbs.
