While this is a simple kit, it's great for beginners. The dexterity needed to assemble it should be available by 7-8. I'd recommend overseeing the sticker placement because if those are off your child might be upset when they play with it. This is a fun little kit, especially as a father-child duo. I gave to my 11 year old daughter and she struggled quite a bit to figure out how to assemble everything on her own. Things went well when we worked on it together but even I must admit that some of the instructions weren't crystal clear. I think this item is rather unique. It's quite a complex project, so not for little-kids (and many dino-themed toys out there are very "young," so if you have a big-kid who is into dinosaurs this is a win). I've also found many dinosaur themed toys be kind of violent (we have some that roar, eyes light up red, smash into each other, the whole thing). I like that this toy is non-violent and requires using your brain in both and artistic and an engineering way. Would be a good gift for the right kid. ... show more

The wooden pieces in this kit are surprisingly good quality! The decor pieces fit well and go on easily. The instructions may be a little more difficult for younger kids unless they're regularly doing these kinds of projects, so generally I would recommend this for 10+.

I love toys for kids that build skills. The instructions are all picture based, no reading required. I think a child younger than 9 would need assistance, especially placing the stickers just right. I don't have photos because my grandson took the Dinos with him! 😁 This kit was just the right amount of work for a 3.5 year old attention span. He screwed the dinosaurs together (with a little help from papa). Then he had a blast putting the stickers on. If you want a bonding moment with your child (or grandchild), then this is a great kit to do that. It won't frustrate young kids with too much to do, or take too long to build. Then they have a blast putting the stickers on... And they "feel" like they built something like Mom/Dad/Grandma/Grandpa can make. You should have seen how excited and proud my grandson was when he went home to mom and dad, saying, "Look what I made!" 😁 Definitely worth getting to have a wonderful time with your kid/grandkid.
