Is sturdy and color is just as it shows on Amazon but for a bookcase it is rather short and slim great for an apartment or small narrow area but in my living room it is swallowed up by the space I even went back and checked to see that I didn't accidentally purchase the tv storage shelf that is smaller shown on same page but I didn't lol it's still a nice piece for the price ... show more

    • Wobbly unless you drill holes prior to starting assembly
It's wobbly. the bookcase arrives in very well protected styrofoam. My bookcase showed no damage. And the pieces had a nice finish with no nicks or scratches. Assembly requires quite a bit of effort. There are 26 cabinet-style wood screws just to attached the shelves. There are wooden dowels that are used to help secure the shelves also. The instruction diagrams have no text, just graphic designs of which screw or dowel goes into each piece. For such a small and lightweight bookcase, I wondered if there was a simpler way to attach items. The key issue is that while the screws are self-drilling, the wood is sturdy and requires extreme effort to screw in the screw. I used a power screwdriver, and I still couldn't get the screws in all the way. Hence, when I was done, the bookcase was wobbly, I agree with other reviewers, that you need to drill the holes yourself, ahead of time. My advice -- lay the 2 side pieces flat, and then drill holds where marked. There's about 26 holes - but you could do it quickly if you did it BEFORE you tried assembling the pieces.     • Beautiful but awkward assembly
This is just the size and shape I wanted. Reviews were excellent and delivery was a day early. Finally got around to assembly this morning. OMG. The angle for shelf screws is so tight I couldn't get my hand and the driver handle in the space! Finally, a friend who had an angled ratchet set was able to finish it up for me. "Easy to assemble" is not accurate. Thank goodness it's together now, but I will not be purchasing from this manufacturer again. OBTW: Instructions completely left out step 6. Step 5 then step 7. Interesting. No written instructions; just pictures. Admittedly, in some cases that's better considering it was made in China. And you can bet I'll check that a little closer in future, too. So, if you buy this, you'll like the finish and the dimensions, but be sure to have an angled ratchet set available. The pictured screwdriver? Muy misleading.     • Beautiful item, gorgeous wood color
Beautiful item, gorgeous wood color, not too big or too small, great in my kitchen as a "pantry" shelf. The item itself had some manufacturing flaws. Several of the screw holes and the dowel holes were missing, and I had to drill them myself. Other than that, I'm very happy with it!

    • Arrived broken
This product arrived with a broken shelf. Amazon sent out another one and told me I could keep the broken one. The second one also arrived with a broken shelf but I was able to mix and match pieces together to get one shelf. The shelf itself is fine but not worth the hassle.

It went together easily, except for the top piece. The holes were crooked and so it's not quite sitting flush. Otherwise, the finish is very nice and there are no scratches. It's solid wood, so it's sturdy. Just right in the kitchen for my cookbooks and a few decorative items. Goes fine with my espresso finish table--close enough match. I bought 3 pieces of this set (bookcase, coffee and side table). They look nice, simple minimalistic furniture. The only problem is I had to do 2 exchanges because of quality issues (factory defects). I suggest to inspect carefully on arrival. Amazon has wonderful return/exchange policies.
