The first time I opened this I had my fingers on the back of the top step - ouch! The stool seems sturdy enough, though I was expecting a tougher step. It should be fine for getting things from the top cabinet in the kitchen though. It is nice an compact too, folded with little effort and it can be tucked out of the way easily since it folds so flat. It is light for carrying, sturdy for standing, and folds when not in use if desired. I hung a beaded curtain with this and it gave me just the right amount of boost for that task. I have tall ceilings so it won't help paint that high, but for getting things down from tall shelves, cleaning off the top of the fridge, hanging curtains it is a huge help there. ... show more
