  • No More Instant Coffee
Color: fine mesh 1-2 cups
***TL; DR*** Inexpensive, easy to use, coffee tastes great, easy to clean, and uses no counter space at all except when brewing and very little storage space. Reviews report some variation from cone to cone, so I'm not 100% sure yours will be exactly like mine, but mine is great! Update: still going strong after nearly 6 months of daily use. I just tap the grounds into the bin, rinse the cone and base, and it's ready to go for the next day. ***Full Review*** First, follow the advice of the prior reviewer who says to add a few tablespoons (about 45 ml) of water first to let the grounds bloom—it definitely enhances the results! I'm not a coffee connaisseur, just someone who only drinks one cup a day and has very little counter & cabinet space. I was drinking instant, but normal coffee is both better and less expensive per cup (unless you get really fancy beans, I guess). I've used both standard grocery-store grind and espresso grind (Café Bustelo, my favorite inexpensive coffee) with success. Enter this wee gem: it's inexpensive, easy to use, easy to clean, and uses no counter space at all except when brewing. I'm not an expert and honestly not that picky (I mean ... I *was* getting by with instant before ^-^'), so ymmv, but this thing makes good enough coffee for me. Since I rarely drink more than one cup of coffee in a day, but drink a lot of tea, an electric kettle is a better use of my counter space than a coffee machine would be, and this works perfectly with the electric kettle. It's also easy to store. I just stick it on top of my coffee canister in the cabinet. Its small footprint will make it handy to take along when traveling. From prior reviews it sounds like these are a bit variable, so you might end up with a somewhat different cone than I did. Mine is perfect for me, though. I think I got one of the slow ones—the mesh is so fine that the cone looks solid from the outside, and I haven't encountered a single coffee ground at the bottom of my cup. I don't mind that it's a bit slow brewing my coffee—it still takes very little time, and it's kind of a pleasant, meditative moment in my day. Overall, a really worthwhile purchase that works perfectly for me. ... show more

  • pretty decent beginner pour over filter for a coffee lover
Color: fine mesh 1-4 cups
I've used coffee machine and french press for a long time, but thought i'd try out a pour over filter. I purchased a different "hario style" filter in the past, but I thought I'd try a stainless steel one. I've had this for about 3 months and I use this at least 1-3 times a week with my gooseneck kettle. Here are my two cents on the item: 1. stainless steel - best part of it. sturdy construction that produces consistent results. you can use it without a paper filter and it'll work great. 2. construction - a two-piece filter & stand. easy to handle and use, i wish the stand is more stable and heavier, but it does not affect usage. one should be careful that the joint connectors are not bent during use. 3. filter - there are two observations about the filter itself. a. it is good at catching the fine grinds, but does not catch them all - some residue do sip through but not enough to ruin the coffee taste. this may not be an issue with the filter, but more related to how fine the grounds; finer will sip through a bit but coarser grounds will be fine. When I use a prepackaged grounds purchased from a store, it will often result in some residue. b. this filter catches the water very well. the water does not sip through the side of the filter, results in diluting the coffee flavor. all of the water poured into the filter will flow down the tip and contribute to the brewing. one more note about the filter itself - if you use without the paper filter, the end result coffee will look "oily", this is a natural process, not a problem of the design. The oiliness is due to the oil in the coffee bean being extracted by the hot water during roasting process. If you use a paper filter, the paper will filter usually absorbs all the oil. 4. easy to clean - a couple of dumps will get rid almost all of the grounds. The included brush works amazingly well when you use warm water with a bit of dish soap. overall I do like and enjoy this filter, and it produces good (but not great) tastes of coffee. Some may have complained that the draining took too long - i disagree respectfully. A pour over is meant to slow drain so it has time to brew the coffee grounds. I have another ceramic filter (hario style) that took even longer to drain. using a pour over is almost like a fine art, where a combination of your filter, hot water, coffee grounds, gooseneck kettle, and hand movement, all contribute to a better tasting and enjoyable coffee. ... show more

  • What has this been all my life?
Color: fine mesh 1-2 cups
I am a coffee lover. How bad is my addiction? I have 6 different kinds of machines sitting on my coffee bar. And yet, I had no pour-over device. Now that I have this wonderful gadget, my poor espresso and drip makers are sitting there all alone, waiting for me to make a cuppa. Sorry to say they have been replaced by the simplest coffee device yet, short of chewing the beans and pouring hot water into my mouth. It is so simple. Just grind the beans (by pre-ground), put a few tablespoons into the cone, and pour hot water over them. No muss, no fuss. It produces a very tasty cuppa with just the right amount of bitterness. ... show more

  • Works with Chemex
Color: fine mesh 1-4 cups
Not a perfect fit, but it works. Water flows through it a little faster than through the paper filters, so it never overflows, but that also means kinda weaker coffee. You also get a little bit of coffee crud in the dregs, so the holes are a little big. That all said, it works nicely. I have to babysit the paper filters, so I'm fine with the tradeoff on flow rate. It's easy to clean. It's not plastic. It checks all of the boxes. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Full Flavor
Color: fine mesh 1-2 cups
This single cup pour over makes a great tasting cup of coffee. I grind fresh beans and use a paper filter with the mesh screen just as personal preference. I find the paper filters extend brew time just enough to get the full flavor of the bean. I believe this pour over is well made and a great bargain, and I would make this purchase again. It even comes with a cleaning brush. ... show more
