This review is for the Dpofirs X99 Motherboard CPU Combo. It really is a 5 star product. but here's what you need to know. If you scroll down the ad, it says " How to Use - Install and use". Not so fast. THIS BOARD ABSOLUTELY REQUIRES HEAT MANAGEMENT (period!) It will continually shut down at 74 deg C. That is the shutdown spec for this chip and that is exactly what it does. Get a heat sink. Thermal shutdown will shorten the life of your cpu. No where in the ad does it depict the board with a heat sink on it. I got this cooler here https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TBHYYFK?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details The socket on the board is LGA2011-3. This fits perfectly. And now the cpu runs at a cool 22 deg. C. No shutdowns. The ad says, and shows 10 sata ports, and then it says, and shows 8. The board I got actually has 8. There is nothing wrong with this board. It is stellar! It comes with no documentation. You order a board, and that's what you get, A Board. The plain brown box is written in Chinese. If you are not familiar with installing mobo's you might want to think twice about this one. Although it is pretty straight forward. The pin outs are silk screened on the board itself(again, no documentation). To get to setup press esc or del. To get to the one time boot menu press F11 (yea, again no documentation, just had to figure this out.) There is a jumper to reset the Cmos. Once again, no documentation so I'll explain it here. To reset the Cmos, remove power from the machine. It is probably best to unplug it. Set the jumpers to pins 2&3 for about 15 seconds. Then return the jumper back to 1&2 and power back on. The BIOS is American Megatrend, EUFI or MBA. I preferred to install Win 10 MBA for my own disk management reasons. Also, there is no VGA or video out. I happen to have a PCIex16 card on hand it immediately recognized it (tried both slots), no problem. There is also a Q-code digital display, but once again, no documentation so there is no way of telling what all the codes mean. I have noticed that once the board boots up and settles down "AA" means everything is under control. Pros; Intel CPU 4 channel DDR4 8 rear USB ports 8 Sata ports 3 fan ports, one CPU, and two case (all monitored in the BIOS) Surround sound audio outputs 8 pin power connector for the CPU Silk screened pin outs Wi_Fi module connector PCIe Gen3 x4 connector 2 PCI x 16 slots 3 PCI x1 slots Cons None to speak of ... show more

Initially bought it to use an old i7 3770 cpu (Ivy Bridge, FCLGA 1155). the CPU was recognized and posted BIOS. However, could not install Win10 Pro with USB to SSD or NVME. Installed the i5 2500K (Sandy Bridge, LGA 1155) and everything worked instantly. American Megatrends BIOS Update: communication with vendor has been great. I’m having trouble installing the m.2 WiFi / BT card. They have sent instructions to update BIOS. Will post further details. ... show more

Had to replace the motherboard in an HP desktop that has a lot of proprietary connections and power supply. This worked great, but only had one usb bus, so had to buy a separate splitter to connect everything in the case we chose. Overall, worked out great.
