  • For cinema fans go OLED, for gamers, get this
For people in between, choose this TV as well. Uses an LG IPS display panel for good colors and has a reasonably good array for its full-array local dimming. You WILL see blooming around lighter objects on black/dark backgrounds but this is barely noticeable outside of menu screens and loading screens. The colors are fine, make sure to fine-tune your set, the speakers were shockingly adequate, but not going to blow your pants off. I honestly think this is one of the best TVs money can buy without going OLED. The magic remote is pretty dope, I fell in love with them pretty much immediately and LG's WebOS is super easy to navigate and snappy -- though I find that the OLED TV is notably more responsive versus this one, which leads me to believe the under-the-hood power of this TV is a fair bit lower. I find that rather curious considering this TV is a fair bit newer. I haven't spent any time on 4K movies with this TV, but I have enjoyed HDR 4k Gaming on it and it's definitely been a very acceptable experience. I eagerly await the advent of HDMI 2.1 devices to see what this TV can do with its VRR. Edit: Since writing this review I have watched a few movies in 4k HDR, specifically Avengers Endgame, IT Part 2, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and the HDR experience is really good. It's still not quite OLED but it is so close. I think this TV excels in terms of its brightness, but the lighting zones are still a bit lacking. It exceeds my expectation for a TV in this price range and if there were more lighting zones I think the TV would end up being substantially heavier/thicker and it's not a particularly thin TV. One final note I want to add -- the lack of Steam Link support is a perplexing thing for me. While I can string an HDMI cord to my TV easily I'd really just rather not. It'd definitely be a rare occurrence for me to PC game on this TV, it'd still be a very nice to have feature. ... show more

  • Don't even worry about the "haloing"
I agonized over which tv to by to replace a Sony that I am less than enamored with which has now been relegated to the rec room. I looked, and looked, and looked some more. This set always seemed to come out on top, although I'll admit that the reviews complaining about the "haloing" on this set had me hesitating. When I came across one of these in the Amazon Warehouse deals that was too good of a price to pass up, I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Now I'm really glad I did. Frankly, I have experienced no issues whatsoever with the haloing "problem". I supposed that if you are a died in the wool videophile, you might be able to really nit pick the issue, but 99% of us are not, so the haloing issue is a moot point. The picture is great, and being a top of the line model, it's loaded with smart features. I won't go into the sound quality, as I use a sound bar and really haven't experienced the internal speakers much, but as they are bottom firing speakers, I suspect a pair of the speaker reflectors that are available, or that some could fashion themselves, might suffice just fine. If you are shopping for a quality set, you could certainly do a lot worse than this one while possibly even spending more. ... show more

  • Good price point for the quality. Very nice picture and
Happy with this tv so far. Good color and good contrast. I think to get a very vibrant image without wash out you need to play with the settings a bit. I saw video complaints about the full array local dimming. To me it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. That feature itself on any tv is imo a poor attempt at milking the ips display. But it does the job and over edge lit dimming it is noticeably better which is why I went with the namo 9 over the 8. Motion rate is good. You can dial it down if you don’t like the soap opera effect. The stand is wobbly but it is what it is. I recommend you try all the modes. Each mode offers different types of tweaking. So you need to try them all. Using standard mode I felt like I could get the benefits of vibrant without being washed out. I like the dynamic color and contrast to bring out the image. I may tire of it once the novelty of the tv wears off. I looked at Samsung which would be my next choice but the price is just too high and they are not without their own pros and cons. Think most people will be happy with this model. Lots of fun options. ... show more

  • Powerfully Perfect
Sound quality blew me away instantly when compared to an older smart TV from 2015. Treble, mids and bass are easy to hear and very clear. Picture quality is great right out of the gate but with some fine tuning it becomes one of the better TV's great colors, but I enjoy the smoothness of the pictures, especially when watching sports or playing games. The smart remote is slightly awkward to hold, I find. It does have neat features like using your voice to find something and the burton layout only takes a few uses to get used to. Overall, I highly recommend, you won't find much better at this price range! ... show more

  • Great Picture From Any Angle
In my opinion this is a great TV. It is a little pricey, but I had purchased a 55" highly rated Visio and was extremely disappointed. I returned that and purchased this IPS display TV. We have six in the family and have a number of people viewing from wide angles. I am please to state, the quality of the picture does not diminish as you view from the sides. My son is in to editing photos and videos and he turned off some features to help improve the picture quality. I have it hooked up to auto turn on through the HDMI cable and share the sound with my receiver to take advantage of my existing stereo. Overall, I am very pleased with the TV. ... show more
