  • Is this a good TV, or not?
Style: 49NANO85UNA
So, out of the box, the TV looks good. Until you watch something dark with a white logo on it. It looked laughably bad. I thought the TV was broken when whole sections of the TV, from top to bottom, dimly light up distorting the black when there are some white objects on the screen. OK, what's wrong? I read a review of this TV online and they broke down all the settings and showed what the problem is. It's a setting called “LED Local Dimming.” When this setting is on, and it is on by default for all the various picture setting options, this TV looks broken. Actually broken. Another reviewer on here has a review with a picture showing it. The good news is that this is just a setting that can be turned off. Even when you shift picture setting from Cinema to Game, for example, you will have to turn this option off or you will notice this setting screwing up dark scenes. Really, this “LED Local Dimming” setting is terrible. So, turn it off on all your picture settings. Settings, All Settings, Picture Mode Settings, Picture Options, LED LOCAL DIMMING. Turn it off. Not low, just off. So, the blacks aren't great, but if you want to spend 2x-3x more for a TV with great blacks, go ahead. Anyway, I got this TV because this has the minimum specs for PS5. Need native 120Hz 4K with HDMI 2.1. Which this TV has. Most TVs with those basic specs for next gen game consoles cost a lot more. So, this is a good TV, great value, that is all set for next gen video gaming. Which is why I bought it. Just turn off LED Local Dimming and the TV is good. Remote is Bluetooth and has a pointing function which is cool, and even though there are a lot of customization options, they can be hard to find As there are multiple different menus with settings for seeming similar things. Smart features look good, well-organized, though I use an AppleTV. Tons of menu options, which can make some settings hard to find, but you have a lot of options if you want to customize everything. One of the best features of this TV Is hidden. It has only a small red dot light when it's NOT on. As you know, modern electronics have all sorts of stupid and useless buttons lighting up dark rooms when they're not even on. In bedrooms, this is obnoxious. This TV has only a small light that you can actually turn off completely by finding the option in settings, so the TV is completely dark when it's not on. ... show more

  • Great tv don’t buy on here
Style: 49NANO85UNA
The colors on this TV are great. Black is super close to my OLED. Highly recommend TV. I wouldn't buy this on here my Tv came dented and was given a $65 refund for it. Sad thought LG was better than this .

  • Feature Rich TV
Style: 49NANO85UNA
Very nice TV. I bought this as a secondary monitor option for 4K since the 32" options were just about the same price and offering way less features. For the price, this is a really great TV for gaming especially. It has all the resolution support you can think of and can even do 4K@120Hz which is a really nice plus but not many games I can push that many frames with yet but the option is there. FreeSync/VRR Support is also a big plus down the line, it makes for a good futureproof buy and for preparation for the next gen consoles if anyone's considering to buy this for that. Now it is a IPS(ADS) panel so keep that in mind, it won't have the best deep blacks or black uniformity in general especially compared to an OLED, but from my standpoint I really didn't notice any crazy flash lighting or IPS glow that would bother me enough to mark bad reviews on the TV in a dark room. I did calibrate my settings and I usually put my brightness not too high for most things so maybe that's a factor. Primarily I bought this as a PC/Gaming monitor so the viewing angels with a IPS panel is a must for this purchase. From a casual use though, movies, shows, and even dark room gaming it performs excellent in my opinion. The colors on this TV are fantastic, they pop out much better than my current IPS monitor and overall it provides a very crisp picture, especially when it comes to art and some editing that I do. Overall I've been very satisfied with this TV, has all the bells and whistles I need for a PC/Gaming Monitor while providing a very immersive experience with entertainment. Speakers on this TV are actually impressive out of the box, you can also tinker with Dolby Atmos and other equalizer settings depending how you want it to sound. Bass is punchy but not boomy so if you want that boomy bass then opt for a soundbar; otherwise these speakers are probably good enough for most people. The magic remote is probably the best controller I have used for a TV, I think most TVs should go for this type of controller in the future. I've had this for about a month now and haven't been disappointed turning it on every day. Highly recommend this TV, LG really outdid itself with the features on this one. ... show more

  • Great TV, not so great picture
Style: 49NANO85UNA
I was hoping the TV would be brighter but I was mainly looking for a 120 hertz panel with HDMI 2.1 if those features are important to you then by all means, great TV for the price. Brand new generation 3 A7 processor, IPS panel provides great viewing but also sacrificing contrast. This is not a OLED, I am stepping down from OLED so I'm going to be disappointed regardless. The TV is great other than the brightness and the dimming zones are horrible, better to just turn them off. Again if you are looking for performance for gaming or computer monitor, this TV has excellent response time and input lag as well as native 120 hertz refresh with latest 2.1 HDMI that I'm sure in the future will work with gsync and freesync. Also has variable refresh rates. ... show more
