  • Impressive monitor with multiple inputs
I switched to this model from a dual 27" ultrasharp display setup and was worried that the downsize in screen real estate would be significant but I was pleasantly surprised in that it is exactly the size I needed. I love the multiple input capabilities along with the PBP functionality. Text clarity, brightness, and image customization settings are great. The build quality is solid even though most of the casing is plastic. Aesthetically, it's a gorgeous display. I use this monitor primarily for work - and it meets all of my needs in working with large spreadsheets and multiple open programs - but I also use it for light gaming (Civ VI, xBox) and the image quality/response time is way better than my previous 60hz monitor(s). I didn't notice any image blurring or screen tearing when playing Forza Horizon 5 or MS FlightSim on xBox. I have only two minor complaints that don't impact my use or overall impression since I absolutely love this monitor but they are: 1) the function joystick at the bottom of the monitor is annoying. I would like to see a remote control option available in future models. 2) the provided stand is a major desk hog, which I did ultimately purchase a separate monitor arm with a much smaller profile to use with this monitor; problem solved. Overall, I am greatly satisfied with this particular LG model and would highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Great quality monitor but it keeps dimming randomly
Great quality monitor but it keeps dimming randomly. It's extremely anoying. I have to restart my computer everytime it gets a fit. for $1300 it's unnacceptable, which is why I'm giving it 3 stars.

  • Excellent ultrawide for gaming, productivity, and general use. Thunderbolt is great for Mac
This is the same panel as the 38WN95C. Yes, you can easily turn off power-saving mode. Mac connectivity is nice with the pass-through charging. Refresh rate is capped at 75 hz via Thunderbolt. You CANNOT use Thunderbolt and DisplayPort simultaneously in picture-by-picture mode; limitation with the controller, I suppose? Immersion is incredible for gaming. My GPU struggles to drive the 3840 x 1600 resolution at a high framerate, but the picture is gorgeous. For general use (I have it set at 120hz for the 10-bit color) the refresh rate seems just as smooth as my old 144hz monitor. Built-in speakers can get VERY loud. I was shocked. They are impressive sound quality-wise for a display's speakers, but don't expect audiophile quality. There is no bass to be found. Couple of downsides are that while the monitor can get VERY bright, the blacks don't get that black. The variable backlight is one of my favorite aspects about it, but the brightness fluctuates when the sky is overcast. Should note - the monitor is far away from a window so maybe it is my fault. Auto-brightness is great at adjusting to indoor lights, anyway. Lastly, I have 3 stuck pixels. I need to get out of my seat, move my face a foot away, and pan my head to specifically look for them. Pixel un-sticker just made one of them smaller. After a week of use, I never even notice let alone think about this (and I can be neurotic about these things). It is literally impossible to see them from my normal sitting position, or if I lean to the side, even. 4.5 stars. The aforementioned flaws are minor to me, and other displays in this segment have their share of issues, some being way worse. I have been looking for the right ultrawide for almost 2 years now. Now, if only I could manage to get a 3080. ... show more

  • Loving this monitor + one cable solution - READ FOR MAC SETUP
This monitor looks amazing. I originally ordered a Dell U3818DW and it had really bad ghosting issues. While I didn't want to spend $400 extra on this...I really like it. I've never really owned a nice monitor, so . I have a 16in Macbook pro for work & a M1 Macbook air for personal use. Both work great with this monitor after a few adjustments: UPDATE TO MacOS 11.3.1 - If you're using Big Sur, there are some bugs with thunderbolt that cause crashing + refresh issues. This are fixed in this update. To disable the Smart Energy Saver in the LG monitor menu, make sure your macbook has HDR turned off. For some reason, you can't turn on/off smart energy saver when HDR is active, it will be grayed out. To enable full monitor resolution & refresh options, you must HOLD OPTION and CLICK ON the Scaled option selector. Then select Show Low resolution modes. One thing to note, you can't have HDR @ 144hz, but it works at 120hz My 16in macbook would default to 3008x1253 @ 75hz as the max resolution while my M1 would actually pick 3840x1600 @ 60hz. Now I have both of them set to max resolution with HDR :) but it was annoying for a moment. Other details, the thunderbolt cable that comes with the monitor is very nice and not super stiff like most thunderbolt cables. The monitor is very light compared to the Dell I tried out. IPS bleed is very minimum, have not noticed any dead pixels, but its only been a week. ... show more

  • Pure Joy
Received my monitor today and cannot express how much I already love the display and the size of the monitor! Picture quality is great. For now since I'm still waiting on my PC parts, I have used this monitor connected to my macbook pro and even then, it's still really great. Like another reviewer mentioned, you can run 120hz with HDR running OR you can opt to run the monitor at 144hz without HDR. Personally for me, I'd rather run it at 120hz and gain the HDR than to run it at 144hz. Overall, monitor is great; however, I notice that low dim light videos aren't that great. I googled some pros and cons online and it appears that one of the cons to this monitor is the low dim light. Despite the one con to this monitor, I thoroughly enjoy it and have not had any bad expierences! ... show more
