I have the Orff xylophones and my nephews enjoy playing on them, but for a 6 year old I needed something less expensive but with wooden keys and similar sound to my Orff. conde's with hard plastic mallets which are fine but loud. bought rubber mallets to take time and last octave hardly sounds.

This is a gift and I never played this before. But I think the sound is OK..for the price. With balloon mallets it does sound better but I'm not sure which balloon mallets work on this perfectly. I recomend getting with a stand.

The media could not be loaded. I liked it best when I put balloons on the mallet, so I bet a rubber mallet would sound nice and less piercing, especially if you have lots of students playing at once.
