Just getting back to fishing, and this is my first bait caster combo since I figured out I didn't know how to use the last one about 65 years ago. How things have changed! Love to throw this thing around. Adjust the settings to the lure/bait weight, cast a few times in the yard and go fishing! This is a 7 foot one-piece rod, and the medium fast is a good all around choice. The reel is 7.1/1 ratio, and I use 8 lb braid and a fluorocarbon leader. I’m giving this product rating a 5 star even tho the pole came snapped in the box. NOT blaming Lew’s for something the delivery service did. The reel is butter smooth the rod is still cosmetically pleasing. Big shout out to Emily for responding so quickly to my concerns! Customer support and products are unmatched, but I will be ordering directly from their website or going to Bass pro shop from here on out ;) ... show more

    • Love this combo - Need better packing
Very, very nice and smooth combo, love it! Was afraid of shipping damage based on some other reviews but it arrived ok. Must say though it certain could have been packed a lot better. Very loose in box with no packing material at all and box was actually a little too short so rod was bent over some.

The reel feels really plasticy but it cast nicely the hand full of times I got to cast it before the drag completely broke. Tighten it as much as I can and it still can’t grab the spool. Obviously I’ll return it for that but another negative; The lure holder thing is also down on the grip.. exactly where you’d pick the rod up. So if you use it you’ll be grabbing a hook every time. ... show more

    • Super sensitive rod
This is a great combo with a super sensitive action. This is my third bait casting combo and is by far the most sensitive. The reel is smoother and retrieve is responsive. The drag settings are quick and hold without constant adjustment.
