  • What is BatmateAs the name suggests, Batmate is an accessory tool for pottery bats. Its slip-resistant surface, combined with its elasticity and water-absorbent properties when moistened, helps stabilize the bat on the wheel head, reducing instability when rotating and significantly enhancing pottery-making efficiency.
  • Who needs the BatmateWhether you're a beginner or a seasoned pottery artist, if you're dealing with unstable bats or a bat system, characterized by rattling, slipping, or difficulty centering your clay, then Batmate is essential for you. It provides a simple solution to these common frustrations.
  • How to use the BatmateWhile some experienced potters may directly use Batmate instead of bats, for most users, it's used in conjunction with a bat. Simply moisten the Batmate and place it between the bat and the wheel as an additional step in your usual workflow.
  • Product IntroductionOur Batmate boasts a 12-inch diameter, suitable for most standard pottery wheels on the market. With a thickness of 2mm, it ensures durability for repeated use. Two pin holes are located 10 inches from the center of the Batmate, allowing for enhanced stability when hung on pottery wheels pre-installed with pins. However, it remains fully functional even if your pottery wheel lacks pins. Easy to clean after use, thanks to its water-absorbent material, it doubles as a handy tool for cleaning work surfaces. White is the natural color, ensuring no color fading after cleaning.

  • A Great BatMate
Number of Items: 1
This is to go between the potter's wheel and the plastic bats to help stabilize them during throwing. These come packed in plastic and slightly moist so they feel a bit silky and spongy - if left out to dry they turn hard and stiff but can be wet down again before use.

  • Great bat mate
Number of Items: 1
This is my first time using one of these and I'm really impressed with how well this works. I don't have bat pins. It was really easy to use and just does what it says. It stayed put and held the bat in place. I haven't tried it without a bat although it says you can. I did what others said and keep mine in a ziploc. Overall, so glad I got one of these. 10/10 ... show more

  • stabilizes bats well

These are great for holding older bats down on the wheel, the wet fabric holds the bats in place which if you do pottery on a wheel you know is essential to stability when you're throwing!

  • So nice!
Number of Items: 1
This thing is great, you put it on the wheel under the bat and it helps with cushion and helps the bat from sliding around if it’s a little loose on the pins. Feels just like a chamois cloth.

  • Absolute joy to use
Number of Items: 1
I've always wondered how these work, boy am I happy to have them. I use a wheel band for throwing and this is a game change. Absorbs a tremendous amount of water and still stays put on your wheel. Easy to ring out dries fairly quickly without water or clay on top. The size is excellent, a good 12 in. No more slipping around even when I glaze pieces on the band wheel, stays in place, rinses and cleans easily. These are wonderful lightweight tools to have in your pottery studio ,I highly recommend them. ... show more

  • Helps keep bat secure!
Number of Items: 1
Love these batmates! They really help keep the bat secure to the wheel while throwing. I love how easy it is to use and clean. I keep mine in a plastic bag and wet it before using, I rinse it out after and store it back in the bag so it doesn't dry out. Great product and a must-have in my pottery tools. ... show more

  • Great

This works great on my plastic bats that tend to be slippery and not easy to control. I highly recommend this for someone who needs more control when throwing.

  • soft while moist
Number of Items: 1
I store it in a tupperware, folded, because it is soft while damp, but it will crinkcle up and become hard while dry. Until you moisten it again and then it's all good. Works well to protect your bat. Does not stick to finished pottery. Love it for my pottery studio. The white makes it easier for me to see small detiails. ... show more
