Description

The rugged Leica DISTO™ X4 combines innovative measuring technologies with a site-proof design and simple user interface. Together with the Leica DST 360, the x-series can be turned into a powerful 3D capturing station. With the digital viewfinder on the DISTO X4, you can confidently measure outdoors, in bright sunlight, without worrying about finding the laser dot. With the rugged IP65 rating and drop tested up to 6’, the DISTO X4 is up to the task of handling tough jobsite conditions. The housing and keypad are water jet and dust protected making cleaning a breeze by rinsing under running water. With our innovative tilt sensor and smart room capability, you can easily determine horizontal distances with absolute precision. You can even use your measurement data to automatically generate realistic and scaled floor plans with the DISTO™ plan app (available for iOS and Android). lastly, the display automatically rotates in line with the orientation of the device; meaning you can easily read the screen from any angle.

I do a lot of measuring as an appraiser and this is a wonderful tool for the job! I love the viewfinder screen, it makes measuring in sunlight much easier. And it hardly uses any batteries, mine last for months on end before they have to be replaced.

This is my second Leica laser measure. The last one I had did not have the visual finder. Most all of my measurements happen outdoors, so the laser was very difficult to see in bright sunlight. So, I upgraded to this one, and that problem is solved. Even though I don't use all the features and primarily use the single distance mode, it's great having the other features at my fingertips when I need them.     • Does it's job fairly well, battery life very good, downgraded capabilities disappointing.
Overall very pleased with the Disto X4, but very unhappy with how Leica downgraded the indirect distance function. Indirect distance does NOT work for a full 360° as advertised, only 0° +/- 87°. I find this very limiting, and especially disappointing since my older E7400X worked for the full 360°. I considered returning for a refund and purchasing a more expensive model until I found out this is apparently standard no matter the Disto. I am keeping my older E7400X for situations where this is needed. I am an engineer frequently required to make field measurements in an industrial environment, have used Leica Disto products for years, and find this downgrade in capability surprising and disappointing. ... show more

    • This unit is one of the best I have used.
This replaces a HILTI with a lifetime warranty. They refused to honor the warranty on a unit that looked new and was always in the case. Said it was too old. That's not a lifetime warranty. The unit was a PD 40. They would not offer any assistance on discount for replacement product. I'm done with Hilti. Sorry I didn't buy the Leica the first time. Great AMAZON service! ... show more

Leica products are high class, but this model is a good move. Not as expensive as a popular 7500 model, but performes awesome. Highly recommend if you in need of laser ruler that calculates triangle (slope,horizontal distances), simple plane etc.

    • It works and you can actually use the app with it
There might be a few small features that I was missing compared to its Bosch counterpart but this one actually works on everything it does including the app integration which is a million times better than what Bosch has out in their Android play store

    • Not great
I bought this unit in May when it first came out. I'm an appraiser, and I was looking for a durable unit that would also work with my mobile sketch program. One of the things I like about it is the camera. If you can manage to keep it still, the view finder does a fairly good job. However, this unit is supposed to have a better laser for sunny conditions. It doesn't. If you're in a sunny location, you can't see the dot beyond 20 feet, if that. You also can't see the camera screen in sunny conditions. Another design flaw is the shape. It's not square, so you always have to lift one side up a little. Unfortunately, that makes it unstable. Finally, they released this model before they wrote the 3rd party software code. I cannot yet use it with my sketcher. Honestly, this unit is a dud. I would buy another model or even a Bosch for much less money. Unless you use it strictly for interior measurements, you WILL be disappointed. Although this unit is good for tight spaces, there really is no replacement for your $20 tape measure. ... show more
