    • Pretty good for what they are
The whole concept of the media enclosure is a pain in the neck. Well seems nice to have a compartment to hide your stuff, in a typical 2x4 Construction you really don't have that much depth to mount your equipment. I bought this box because when my new house came with a media box it was way too small. When you consider the amount of cable Bend radius that you need and the depth of the things you put in the box, you really need a ton of space if you're bringing in say cable TV antennas or multiple ethernet port cables. So I ended up with one box mainly doing my ethernet cables and one box doing a little bit more of my ethernet work and then the other end that other box also doing a centralized antenna connection for the house. And even though I had two boxes I still mounted my router externally because I didn't like the angle that it was going to be at and with the antennas on top of my router I really would have used most of the Box just to hide the router. Another thing to consider is that these boxes have all their mounts on the back and that's at the depth of touching the back side of the next walls sheetrock. So you have to worry about using screws that are very shallow otherwise you will puncture the sheetrock on the other side. And then all the fancy accessories they sell you only work so so when you finally start installing your equipment. Also I wish the mounting tabs were a little more flexible as installation on metal studs especially for retrofit was a pain in the neck. ... show more

We had a home built for us and they were going to use by default a 14" metal box. I purchased this one and installed it when then they were through with framing and starting wiring. Now we are in and I have the space I need. Gave me room for a small battery backup, Xfinity modem and y Asus AXR86 router. The venting keeps it cool and the extra 1/2 " the plastic case gives over the metal gave the space necessary for my router to actually fit in with the door closed. The plastic of course allows for the wifi signal to travel freely - which is great as it reaches all parts of the home as well as my BHyve sprinkler controller outside. ... show more

My old wiring panel was a mess, and after years of putting it off I finally decided to swap it out. I removed the old box, cut out the drywall, put in the new box, cleaned up wiring mess, and then used caulking around the trim door, and it looks perfect. Very happy with the result.
