I recently completed a build from a wanna-be LEGO knock-off company, and by the time I was done with that project my fingers were SO SORE! The pieces didn't fit that well together, the bags of pieces weren't that helpful, and let's just say that once I was done, I set it aside to donate to my local thrift store. Doing this build by comparison was a joy. I completed this build in about 8 hours over the past two days. This is a great build. As a marine biologist and film lover, this was a really fun gift. The box says that this is a build for the 18+ year old crowd. I'd say that in general that's a good guideline, but if someone is an avid LEGO builder, 12+ years old would work. First of all - I looked all over for the sheet of decals, but didn't find it until late in the build - I'll put them on when I take the build apart. Where was it? It was in the envelope that contained the instruction book. This set has nearly 1500 pieces, and the instructions include 374 steps, and the pieces come in 13 numbered bags of pieces. I have to say that the people behind this build were VERY CLEVER! The hardest part of the build for me was the ship's bow. I had to do that twice to get it right, I guess. And even now there is a piece rattling around in there. The shark's jaw is not meant to open and close, but making the build so the jaw gapes is perfect, and the way they did that was cool! You'll see. Another cool thing is that you can easily switch the shark from complete body on a stand to part of the diorama and back again. The attention to detail is impressive! I loved that they included a couple of rows of teeth in the jaw. As a film buff and as a biologist, this set was a win-win! 5 stars ... show more

I purchased this set directly from Lego however wanted to leave a review because I love this set so much. Simply beautiful Jaws set. A work of art. So detailed. super fun build. Great price in my opinion for what you get compared to the high prices of lego these days. Looks amazing on display.
