  • Cheaper modular version of half the big boy set
This set is so cute. slightly smaller but a fair price for two modular buildings, especially from a license. compared to the full diagon alley set, it obviously won't hold a candle. But for those who don't want to drop 6x the prife for a display piece def worth it! A cute ladder play feature that's fun to fiddle with and tons of wands for those who still value the tradition of "Lego army building" ... show more

  • Another great set by lego
Great set as part of the Happy Potter line. Solid addition to the collection. They are never as tall as you think they're going to be, but the details are well thought out and fun to build.

  • Smaller than I hoped
This is a very good set and will be absolutely loved by any Harry Potter fan, but it is small. I would be torn between going all in for the much, much more expensive #75978 which is much larger and includes more stores, and this set which may be paired with #76422 to create a diminutive but still functional alley. I have the feeling that Lego will continue to offer sets in this range, and so it is entirely plausible that one ends up getting close to the cost of #75978 when all is said and done. If that is so, I'd argue for the larger set from the get go. Madame Malkin's and Ollivanders each measure 16 studs wide and about 8 studs deep. Take a close look at the box art before you purchase this; the rear views of the buildings give a better impression of their size. Notice how both stores barely have enough room for a minifigure to move about or be placed on the insides (e.g., there is hardly anything of the second floor in Malkin's). This is in keeping with the latest design trend for the Harry Potter line, to give a bare minimum of structure to act out the scenes. To me it looks like a cut rate echo of the larger Diagon Alley set. One significant addition with this set is the large number of new wands in a variety of styles and colors. These adorn the walls of Ollivanders in a way that is a distinct inprovement on earlier Ollivanders sets. I would have liked to see more evidence of the Hogwarts houses at Madame Malkin's. The clothing is a bit generic, whereas I imagine something more along the lines of a college bookstore with the various house colors, crests, and mascots. Maybe I've been too influenced by the stores at Universal Studios.... The mini figures are fine. It is good to see Padma Patil in the set. I'm not sure we needed another Harry, but imagine the uproar if he weren't included. These two are in short, early adolescent form, which I never liked. They are always standing. Madame Malkin is a bit garnish. Ollivander is fine, and his second, disturbed face, is certainly more appropriate than his smiling visage. Ollivander always had an deeply troubled undercurrent. There is also a no-name witch and wizard, the latter in a wheel-chair. One assumes it is magical. If you do buy this set for your kids, I don't think you can escape also buying 76422, which includes Weasley's Wizard Wheezes and a small post office. And then there's the train set, which I highly recommend.... ... show more

  • One of the easier sets I have put together.....
I love Harry Potter and I love Lego! This is one of the more recent sets that was easy to put together for me even though it comes with a lot of little parts. It comes with six minifigures - Harry Potter, Garrick Ollivander, Madam Malkin, Padma Patil, a wizard student and a witch. It also comes with two buildings - Ollivander's (the wand shop) and Madam Malkin's Robes. The only issue I had with the set is that the two buildings felt like they were a little smaller than they should have been for the scale. But it wasn't that big of a deal. One of the things I love about the Harry Potter sets is all the diverse characters. I don't recall seeing one in a wheelchair before, so I was excited to see that they included one with this set. I love all the little details, including the wand box that Harry gets in the first movie. At Madam Malkin's robe shop, there are little mannequins with clothes, but you can use those clothes on the minifigures as well. You can just tell these sets are well thought out. They are very close to movie accuracy as a Lego set can be. Overall, as a Harry Potter fan and a Lego fanatic, I am very pleased! ... show more

  • My kids love it
My 9-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son had so much fun building this Harry Potter set! I'm glad it comes with two shop sets, allowing each of my kids to build one. My daughter built the Madam Malkin's Robes shop set without any issues, while my son needed some minor assistance with the Ollivanders wand shop. The Lego blocks were precisely crafted and fit together easily. My son managed to snap in the windows by himself. We were all very impressed with the intricate details of Ollivanders wand shop. They also figured out how to connect both shops. They enjoy playing with the characters and incorporating other Lego sets into their play. This set truly keeps them engaged and away from screen time. ... show more
