I have ordered and reviewed several bright LED flashlights over the past year or so, and was intrigued by this one's Lantern feature. How does it measure up? A little above average. First, the main flashlight is nice and bright. The LED element combined with the reflector and plastic focusing lens throw a nice beam that allows you to discern objects out to about 100 feet on tight zoom; the wide zoom setting casts an even circle of light with expected diffusion. And what does '1500 Meters Long Beam' mean? Simply that someone who is 1500 meters away from you will be able to see the point of light from this flashlight; honestly though, all sellers use this rather useless and silly marketspeak. The 21700 battery is true to specification, no overstatement of capacity. I measured 4922 mAh on my BC-3000 style charger, just shy of its 5000mAh rating. I really appreciate when a product includes a good quality battery! Even though 3xAAA and 18650 adapters are included, you shouldn't need them. The flashlight's controls are a bit above average. The main light has High/Low/Strobe/SOS settings, and no memory. Other flashlights include a Medium intensity setting as well as memory. Both the main light and the COB light will turn off immediately on button press if they have been on steadily for about 20 seconds, so no need to cycle through the modes. There is a USB-C port for charging; by my measurements, it only charges at a slow 5V 1.5A (7W) rate. There is also a USB-A port that allows you to use this flashlight's battery as a power bank; it only provides charging power at 5v 1A, but that is actually typical of this feature on flashlights so equipped. The power bank, flashlight and lantern functions all work simultaneously. Now, for the Lantern feature. There is a ring of small LEDs at the base of the handle that throw their light onto a ridged aluminum reflector under a clear cover. Even on its high setting, it does not produce a lot of light, by my estimates enough to dimly illuminate a tent interior but not enough to read by. I was hoping that it would be brighter. I do regret not being able to give a more glowing review! I had great hopes for the Lantern feature in particular. But still, it is a well constructed flashlight with a very good battery and bright beam with zoom at a fair value. This light is exceptional. As a flashlight, the most important things to me are the shape, color, and size of the beam. And for this flashlight, each of those characteristics far exceeds what most other lights provide. For example, the beam is very bright, the beam spot itself is round, and the beam's brightness is evenly distributed, without hot spots. When the beam is zoomed / tightened up, it illuminates everything surprisingly well, even objects that are over 100 meters away. I normally use it at a mid-zoom setting, to illuminate my surroundings out to 15 or 20 meters away. There are a couple of brightness settings, as well as a strobe and SOS setting, but for my purposes I mostly use the dimmer of the two brightness settings, as that provides plenty of light. Also, neither the beam itself nor the flashlight body gets warm when used. This is a great thing because it implies that the electronics in the light are not being heat-stressed when in use which, in turn, implies that they should last for several years of hard use. This light also has a COB lighting feature built into the handle which provides an area-light function in addition to its traditional flashlight mode. This area lighting function is controlled by a separate switch and it has two brightness settings. For this light function, I usually use the dimmer light setting as well. There's a metal loop / hoop on the light's tail cap so you can suspend the light above you and light up a considerably large area all around. The light arrives in a hard plastic case so if you intend to toss this light behind or under the seat in your vehicle, the light itself will be well protected within this padded plastic case. A large, 21700 size battery, is supplied and in my testing it powered the light on its Hi setting for over 4 hours. And two battery adapters are included. One adapter allows you to use commonly-available 18650 sized batteries, and another adapter lets you power the light using three AAA batteries. A USB B to C cable is provided to recharge the light and, surprisingly, this light also charges directly through a USB C to C cable as well. This is a very welcome surprise, as most lights are not designed to be charged directly from a USB C source. Charging is well regulated at 5V and between 1A and 1.4A, depending upon the capabilities of your charging source. There's a USB B port built into the light that allows you to use the flashlight as a power bank. While this works well for low-current tasks, the voltage regulation of this port is not great, as the output voltage will dip below 5V as soon as you apply anything greater than 0.25 Amps of load. In my testing, a 0.5A load caused the power bank's output voltage to dip to 4.93V and a 1.0A load caused the voltage to drop to 4.35V. So overall this is a remarkably good flashlight. It is certainly very bright and its beam properties are quite good. The light will run for many, many hours and if you do happen to drain the battery, you can easily install another 21700 battery or you can use the adapters to run the light off an 18650 battery or from three AAA batteries. ... show more
