I was discouraged when I read some reviews saying the erase button wasn't working or was broken. My husband thought the same when he first opened. But the lock button was on. Great for note taking and drawing. One button for erasing and it's lockable. I suggest a string to hold the writing tool.

Seal was broken and already had doodles I'm pretty sure I received a returned item that someone thought was defective. At first it didn't work I had to fix the battery which was put in incorrectly. I seen a lot of reviews with it not clearing, but make sure you move the on switch over to on and it should clear. Itll let you doodle but won't clear if it's off. It's a Christmas gift so ill give an update once it's used for a bit. ... show more

Overall I like the size, weight, design, color, pen storage, and the lock feature. The main issue I have with it is that your writing is not very light/bright against the black background. Some of the areas are better as the color changes throughout but some of the areas are a bit harder to read. For comparison we used to have a similar style pad (brand name) and I was able to draw finer lines and it was easier to read (writing was brighter). But for the price you can't beat this. Great for little kids to scribble, practice writing, doodle... I use mine for my daily to do list so I'm not using up tons of scraps of paper each week ... show more
