  • Lawa desk
This desk is the absolute cutest! Assembly time was about 2 hours, instructions were pretty clear and two people are needed toward the end. It fit perfect in our daughterā€™s room. We love everything about this desk. Definitely worth the money spent! And the quality is amazing.

  • Looks true to pictures. Feels solid. Instructions need work.
Looks great. Good size for our 5yr olds. Seems sturdy, though time will tell. Assembly is "easy", but I still managed to get it wrong a few times. The instructions are much too faint. Many steps I had to make educated guesses. This allowed me to install the cabinets upside down and back to front. Easy to remedy, but added 30min to the build time. The attachment of the side cabinets to the desk is very weak. I can't imagine it surviving being moved. I would suggest either not attaching them, or adding an additional screw towards the bottom of each. An odd choice from the designer, easy for them to improve with a removable clip or similar. ... show more

  • Super cute
Got this desk for our 3 year old daughter so is already super excited to get to use it. It is very cute, about medium level for one person to assemble mostly by themselves. Surprisingly sturdy MDF material. A normal cube storage box is a tight fit in storage area. All and all, excited for her to be able to get to use it. It is a long desk so do be mindful about your measurements in the room it may be going into. ... show more

  • Cute and great quality
Absolutely love this for our kids play/homework room. The stools arenā€™t that sturdy so thatā€™s why a 4 star but we purchased different chairs that go nicely. Overall very happy with this purchase. Worth the cost!

  • Cute but thatā€™s about it - get anti tip hardware!
The media could not be loaded. Alright. This will be a long one, so buckle up. Iā€™ll start off by saying I put together furniture a lot. I was designated as the builder in my family somehow (who knows how?) and I take on that role with pride. As a pre-summary, nothing about how this desk goes together makes any sense to me. Like it is so backwards I donā€™t get it. There are so many better and easier ways to do things and I know that, because (letā€™s say it together now) Iā€™ve put together *a lot* of furniture. Itā€™s cute at a glance, but looking closer things just donā€™t line up right. Iā€™ll also say, I am a stickler for following instructions, so you better know I followed those as written. Okay, so Iā€™ll start at the beginning. Been waiting to put this thing together until I can get my office setup a little better. So excited to get it set up, itā€™s so cute. Did I spend $400 on it? Yeah I did. Did I regret that? Only a little, itā€™s super cute so itā€™s worth it right? ā€¦rightā€¦? I finally open up that box and start unpacking. Looks like half a boot print on one of the boards, gross but okay. The instructions say to wipe down the pieces with a damp cloth. I can do that, super easy. Iā€™ll do it at the end, no worries. So I also decide Iā€™ll go ahead and put the stools together first. I have ADHD so letā€™s get an easy step out of the way and give me some dopamine to get me prepped for the rest of this thing. This is where I immediately got annoyed. The stools donā€™t have an inset for the bolt head to rest in. My kids are supposed to just sit their precious bottoms on bolt heads that are *raised* above the chair??! What?! Who does that? Anyone who makes furniture knows you canā€™t just have bolts sitting above flush with the surface. Itā€™s so easy to just route out a shallow hole, why not just do that when youā€™re making the stool seat?? Okay, so Iā€™m irked about that off the bat but I keep going. Iā€™m like whatever, itā€™s just a stool. Thereā€™s clearly some of the veneer thatā€™s not lined up right, but I canā€™t let that distract me. I just have to keep moving or Iā€™m never getting to bed. So I make a start on the desk part. Things seem fine until I have to put the backer piece on that sits under the mountain looking piece (which hasnā€™t gone on yet). Thereā€™s dowels that go in but then I have to use these massively long screws to attach it to the legs and desktop and thereā€™s no pilot holes for me to know that Iā€™m doing it right. I have to go flex the board so I can make sure Iā€™ll screw it flush. This seems like another massive oversight. Do you know how easy it is to mess up something like that? So easy, and especially if it wasnā€™t a seasoned furniture assembler/DIYer like myself. Just add the pilot holes when youā€™re manufacturing it so nobody messes up that seriously important part. That backer piece is what lines up the legs of the desk for the side shelves to go on properly. Iā€™d itā€™s crooked it wonā€™t line up and you may end up with screws coming through the face of a leg or desktop. Also something I noticed at this stage is that the base of the desk is about half as deep as the top of the desk, so any kid that leans on the front edge of this desk is getting crushed under a desk, which is NOT SAFE. I made note as well that none of the instructions had reference to anti tip safety and this product did not contain any anti tip hardware. I had to add my own at the end to make sure my toddlers donā€™t get crushed using this desk. So anyway I finish the center desk part. Itā€™s cute, seem to get my excitement back somewhat for using this for my kids. I move on the to small bookshelf that I notice is literally just a separate thing that is then attached to the main desk after. Whichā€¦ felt weird and I was like man why not just utilize the desk leg as the side of this bookshelf? But whatever, they can use extra materials I guess and itā€™s fine. Doesnā€™t impact how cute it is or how it works? Great. Anyway, I notice thereā€™s red printed numbers on the faces of all these shelf pieces and actually some of the desk parts too. I go omg thatā€™s the worst place to put those, but then realize they wipe off with water. Easy peasy. Except wait a second, they told me to wipe the boards with a damp cloth at the beginning so if I had done that Iā€™d have no numbers to reference. Glad I didnā€™t do that. I also realize that the sides of the bookshelf are not identical, even though every reference in the instructions to them shows the exact same image (until the step you attach it to the desk, way way later on). I use my +10 furniture assembly expertise and figure out the one that has a single hole on the outside wall has to go towards the desk. Whew. Crisis averted. I get the bookshelf outer case put together and put in the little shelf pegs that are for the shelves that go inside. The shelves are supposed to just sit. On. These. Pegs. Which wouldnā€™t be a big deal except a few things. 1- this is a desk for small kids. Those shelves are gonna get pulled on and pushed and bumped and they are not gonna just stay there. 2 - why are they not just held in with dowels permanently?!? Iā€™m building the shelf, just let me put dowels in it and make it permanently there. Then I can use the shelf as a hand hold to move it and my kids wonā€™t pull it out. And then thereā€™s 3, which is maybe my favorite - this backer board is supposed to be NAILED into this REMOVABLE shelf per the instructions. And not to mention the instructions havenā€™t told me to even install the shelf yet. Thatā€™s the very last step. But Iā€™m supposed to put a nail in the backer board where this removable shelf goes for *some* reason? Yeah whoever wrote those instructions definitely didnā€™t put this thing together. I make it work, I just measure it out and nail it in to the shelf. Whatever. I also put the other shelf together, run into the same issues and itā€™s worse because itā€™s not even a parallel shelf so the removable shelves just keep falling when I try to nail the backer board on and there is gapping between the inner shelf inserts and the outside vertical shelf pieces. I give up on the instructions for the backer board part, itā€™s not safe to put the nails in removable shelves anyway. I remove it from the other bookshelfā€™s removable shelf as well. Now comes the fun part, I get to put the shelves onto the desk part! I recommend doing this in place where youā€™re desk is gonna go, so add your anti tip hardware before you get to this part so you donā€™t have to move the desk after, because it will break - like mine did. So yeah, I follow the directions and get it all attached and Iā€™m like, wow thatā€™s not a lot to attach this small bookshelf (one locking screw and one regular screw). The tall shelf seems solidly attached but it has 2 dowels and two locking screws and a regular screw. I have the desk mostly where I want it but I need it just a smidge to the right. So I *lift* the desk part to move it a bit over. And I hear CRACKKKKK. Oh eff. I look, and the single lone screw holding the bottom of the small shelf has ripped out and royalled messed up the side of the book shelf. Thankfully it was a part that is hidden by the redundant desk leg that it was trying to be attached to. But I now just canā€™t move it at all. Ever. Or it will rip out the upper screw or break the particle board/veneer that this entire desk is made from. An aside not related to the product, they included an insert that talks about reaching out to their email for a gift card (or leaving a review, so I hope this counts) and theyā€™ll send you a gift card for Amazon. And I emailed the listed email and got an ā€œundeliverableā€ email response back (triple checked the email address was as listed on the insert). Bummer there, but after the quality of everything else I guess itā€™s to be expected. So yeah, TL;DR is that this desk is NOT worth $400 (more like 150-200) and Iā€™m pretty disappointed in the quality, design, craftsmanshipā€¦ like itā€™s just sad. Cute from afarā€¦ but thatā€™s about it. Oh and GET ANTI TIP HARDWARE if youā€™re gonna buy this even after this review. I barely leaned on the front of this thing and it almost fell forward onto me. ... show more
